Do I need it if my bank still holds the title since my mortgage is not paid off yet?

This seems like a big scam to me. Why don't you need Car Title Lock insurance?

that's not how this works. you have ownership, your bank has a mortgage. and this is the dumbest insurance product maybe ever.

You have the deed to your house which means you own your house. Your bank just has a lien on your house until you pay them off. You can probably go online to your local county/parrish land records and check the status of your deeds, etc. Title lock is not gonna prevent fraud. They will just let you know after the fact that something has happened with your deed. It's like a monitoring service. You can do that yourself.

Edited to add.....the way a thief would work is they would basically sign a new deed to themselves or another thief and sign your name on the deed and have a notary on board with the whole scam. It could happen I suppose but you could monitor it yourself through online land records.

I actually have a reminder on my phone on the first of each month and I just log in to my local county and make sure they are no new instruments filed in my name. That's all title lock would do and then let you know about it after the fact.
