I laid some zoysia sod this past month. Last couple of weeks I see these popping up. They look like grass but not zoysia. Should I pull them out?

Ya I’m not good enough to identify this, thought is was a type of spiderwart. Either way, it needs eliminated fast before it spreads. I would nuke it with glyphosate and live with the brown spot.

Looks like torpedo to me. Unfortunately glypho is your only option

Won’t glypho kill the zoysia too? I ran across an lsu ag article saying image weed killer is a good option. One guy on YouTube said you have to manually pull it out.

Yeah it’ll kill the zoysia too. You can use a qtip or something and paint the glyph onto the leaves of the torpedo grass though. That should just kill the torpedo

Thanks for the advice. What do you think about using fertilome?
I started pulling some out this morning. I noticed there were easy to pull out roots and all. I was surprised since I thought they were connected to horizontal rhizomes.

Need more pictures than that.
It doesn't look like torpedo to me, but I'd like to see some more evidence.

Here’s another picture of the one in the OP.
Then I found another one. This one the base is flat.
Lastly is this one. Very thin but a pain to remove. I think this one has rhizomes.
I was damn excite with this sod installation too.

In Zoysia or Bermuda, Quinclorac can be used to effectively treat Torpedo

The 2nd pic looks like barnyard. What about the 1st and 3rd?

1st still looks barnyard grass, 3rd looks like Bermudagrass. Without seedheads they can often be difficult to ID from photos alone, particularly young seedling plants.
