Heater in bathroom vent went out. Is this an easy fix?

The vent in the ceiling. Exhaust works fine but nothing happens when I flip the switch for the heater.

Switch out the whole thing?
Blower, motor or wiring?

I think they’re relatively inexpensive at HD/Lowes. Cut the power, pull the old one down (most newer ones have spring clips like recessed cans) undo wiring, wire up new one, shove into place. Take measurements before you go so you won’t have to deal with cutting Sheetrock.

Check the switch before you pull it out.

My unit has three separate modules that can be easily removed and replaced within the housing. Maybe inspect it to see if it's an easy task, then search for the right part.

Where would this be and what would it look like?

I’ll post a pic in the future when I tackle it.

Seems odd that the fan and heating element go out at the same time unless there's some sort of safeguard to kill both if 1 quits working.

I changed a heating element once and it wasn't hard. Hardest part was finding the exact match online. Check the switch on the wall too.

I think he might mean the wall switch which is a good idea.

Might not be bad idea to check the breaker, too. Some HVLs can be powered by separate circuits.

They usually have a small thermistor that burns out - fairly easy to change out look online for a diagram and part !

My bath fan heating element replacement is plug and play. A few screws and plug in the new one. Easy peasy. Take the cover off the vent and look for a make and model # to search for the replacement part.

Easy to partially replace/upgrade. I took 2 of mine and replaced just the part that pulls down and out with one that has a bright light as well. Plugs right in, slide in place with the spring arm things, venting and power source never moved. Look for a replacement compatible with what you have.

I honestly don’t even have a heater in my bathroom. Grew up with them, never used them. Never even noticed the lack of a heater until now. Use the fan all of the time.

They’re like $100. Get a compatible replacement and it’s a five minute job.
