agree with others that it looks like a wheel/tire track... Did you happen to spray a herbicide or other chemical and accidently ride through it on your mower or spreader wheel? I had a leaking jug of round up and dripped onto my ZTR and I didn't realize it for a week when I had streaks like this all around the barn until it wore off.

Don’t think so. The pattern has slowly worsened over 12-18 months

Did you use the "edge" feature on a spreader? The crappy ones like scotts can drop too much in a line like that.

I did. And I’ve been applying sulfur over the last couple years to try to lower the ph. Maybe it was building up in those areas.

Then it wouldn't be voles. You would have had more tracks, and you'd see holes near your house and holes/tunnels in your mulch/pine straw.

If it is slowly getting worse in that exact pattern, it very well could be just an animal walking that route consistently. Put out a game camera and see if it catches something walking that path at night.

Coming off your roof. Do you, by any chance, use Wet It and Forget It or something similar on your roof? If you have gutters anywhere, you will notice the same phenomenon where the downspouts discharge.

Definitely not from the roof. Infront of the garden bed where it started is about 15 feet from the house

Grass almost looks long but still dead there? Usually animal path it’s not long grass just trampled down. Definitely looks like an animal following the path to me. If you have a trail camera set one out. Or be lazy and do something like stick a shovel there sticking out like 2 feet and I bet it shifts over to go around it

It’s the drip line from the roof from all the rain. The water is knocking the dirt off of the roots killing the grass.

That’s a good thought but I don’t think is roof goes out over the flowerbed in a curve. It’s human/animal foot path.
