The flies are swarming my patio. Will Talstar keep them at bay or do y'all have any other suggestions?? TIA!

The Red Top Fly Trap is the best thing I have ever used for flies. Put it in a place well away from where you have the flies, wait a few days, and you won't have flies. The trap will be absolutely covered.

You can buy them in two packs, but I only use one at a time and they last a while. Find them on Amazon by searching "Red Top Fly Trap".

Fly trap bags work well. Any brand. I put one out about a week ago about 50’ off my back patio, and there’s probably 2 or 300 dead flies in it already.

Quikstrike fly bait granules in a large coffee container. Add about 1-2tbs of granules and a couple ounces of beer. I’ve found beer works better than water. You’ll have to continue to add more beer to it daily as it evaporates and possibly more granules. But you’ll kill hundreds of them!!!

You can drink a bottle of water, cut off and invert the top, and put water and some type of bait in the bottom. Quick and easy.

This stuff is awesome. I would post a pic of our weekend victims, but it's kinda gross.

Yep, we had a function a couple of weeks ago outside around the pool. I set up two coffee containers in two different locations back there a couple days prior to the event. After a few days, you could not even see the red bottoms inside the containers, nothing but nasty arse black flies! My other suggestion is to put it somewhere that pets can not get to it or that wind will not blow it over.

I put the $5 Walmart one out yesterday via this board’s advice. 60 feet from patio. Has already cut patio flies by 75% and has several dead flies inside. They’re over by the BBQ and outdoor section.

I did this first and didn’t get anything. Then my Walmart trap kicked butt day one. Admittedly, I used beer, some smoked rib trimmings, and salami because that’s what I had. That concoction may just take several days to stink enough. Maybe it’s because I used Busch Light which is more like water. Fly bait or raw poultry is probably faster.

This double tap works wonders for me. I’ve got to blow off the back patio from all the dead ones on the ground too.

These $5 disposable fly traps on Amazon work wonders but smell like a rotting Porta Potty as soon as you add the required water.

Because of the stench I hang one on a fence at least 40 feet from where anyone might sit outside. Keep adding water every week or two until it fills up with dead flies.

The disposable bags work well. Be careful with the fly baits around pets. Brought dogs into vet for routine checkup last week and vet mentioned how many poisoning cases she's had in the last month with dogs getting into fly bait.

Yep. I didn't know about the stink when I hung one on the patio where we had the biggest fly problem. It worked wonders but stunk like hell.

Yeah, always take their word for placement. The Red Top ones say hang away from the area where you currently have flies, preferably upwind from the prevailing wind. They mean it.

It makes sense, though, with the baited traps. They attract flies, so if you hang them where you don't want the flies they will just draw more flies. The Red Top Traps I use always wind up looking like this:

Covered in flies and nasty as hell, but no flies anywhere around my porches or shop. I haven't had to use them the last couple years, but I keep a couple ready to go if I do need them.

Understatement. Hung this 3 days ago and it's working quite well! Thanks PP.
