Finally fired up the military grade pressure washer & jomax. Holy crap (PICS)

we moved into this house at the first of the year and its been non-stop reno but the one thing that has made me crazier than hell is the driveway doesn't seem to have ever been pressure washed.
Like ever.
house was built in the 70s and i swear they never cleaned it once.
so i mixed up a big batch of the H&B boards favorite pretreat and sprayed down the driveway and started out. the smell was HORRIFIC
it was black; hard to tell from the pics this morning w/ the sun but this was the nastiest thing i've done lately..just thick black slime/goop/rot/50 years of crud buildup...*POOF* gone in a flash.
going to finish the rest this morning but just had to share because this was one of the most satisfying things i've done in awhile.
pics dont do it justice..the driveway was so black & slick it looked like it had a coat of paint on it.

You suck at this CAD. You were supposed to set up a video camera and post a timelapse on YouTube

honestly i should have but then you would have seen me chasing dogs, constantly stopping and scratching my poison ivy and throwing a couple of hissy fits when i realized it was low on oil and had to stop and go to home depot for more.
also @kork, i'm saving the real details for the plex/iptv integration project later today! i plan to have a pretty detailed write up with pics of that setup...unless of course it fails then i'll create a 'plex iptv sucks' thread instead.

This reminds me that my boys play this PowerWash Simulator video game. It's exactly what it sounds like, you pretend to pressure wash shite.
I showed them how to do it in real life and you know those bastards weren't interested

That might be a good thing. If they ever are interested in running the pressure washer, impress upon them that it can be extremely dangerous to point it at someone. My buddy had his arm torn open when he snuck up on his wife and she spun around and hit him. Left a hell of a scar.

damn I probably would have paid you to let me pressure wash that sh*t. It's probably my favorite chore, especially if something is really freakin' dirty. When I bought my house the carport was similar to how you described your driveway. I enjoyed the hell out of getting it clean.

same. very satisfying and i bet someone would have wanted $1,000 to do our big arse driveway. other than the cost of the jomax & bleach (which i already had from a smaller project in the spring), i already had a 5 gallon tank of gas in the shed from the fall so $2 worth of oil and whatever the water will cost me is about it.
can't imagine paying someone hundreds or even more for just standing around waving a wand back & forth. i get its time-consuming but its got to be really profitable for the guys who make a living doing it....particularly if they're using the homeowner's water.
i really want to seal the aggregate but i'm broke arse broke. i imagine i would need probably ...15?.. 5 gallon containers of sealer to tackle the entire thing.
maybe in the spring..

Pressure washing has to be one of the most satisfying things ever to me.
Not sure if you have one or not, but if not, check out those surface cleaner attachments at Lowes/HD. Make things go so much quicker.

quote:hurts like frick. i hate it when i'm barefoot in the house and the wife hands me a trash bag to take out IMMEDIATELY and rolls her eyes when i go looking for shoes first. gravel sticks to the bottom of your feet and its like walking on legos.

quote:that giant hockey puck looking doodad? we have one but i gave up because it wants to fly up in the air and its hard to move across the uneven aggregate because i have to push down on the rod while moving it around.

i think it would work for smooth concrete but that 'brrrrrrr' head i have is a fricking rock star. it will drill a hole to china.

I've heard Pressure Washer has the highest rated job satisfaction of all careers. I'd believe it. Instant gratification daily.

Looks like a nice little piece of property. A residential neighborhood with a decent size plot and large trees

How many times since you finished have you gone outside look at it and nod approvingly?
