You aren’t posting any sort of new info. List me AM best carriers writing new business in Northshore and Baton Rouge area.

I switched from State Farm to safeco after ida. Had been with State Farm for 30 years but they screwed me on a legitimate claim (tree on barn) with regard to what it is going to cost me to repair it today.

My premium went down by $750 and my hurricane deductible went from 12% to 5%

Suppose someone has the capability to be “self insured” for damages. Is it possible to only carry liability on a home, at a very low rate?

I have Allied Trust. My experience has been a mixed bag. Quick to send a field adjuster out. The desk adjusters they used through some entity call AllCat were basically worthless until I got a higher up involved. They paid the claim but did nit pick it. On my renewal they went up 60% over the prior year. From friends with State Farm it sounds like I actually did better. Of course, Allstate has been the worst of the big ones from people I know with them. Problem for South Louisiana is going to be the flood insurance fiasco as the rates rocket upward over the next several years. I predict huge amounts of people will drop the coverage unless they have a mortgage requirment.

So far, USAA is quoting me at almost $4000 per year. Progressive is at $3600.

Liberty Mutual is at $2400. Anyone with experience dealing with Liberty Mutual? They seem to be the lowest priced.

FedNat cancelled thousands of Florida policies per the State's direction, including mine 3 months after renewing

Our agent who carries multiple lines is looking for a replacement.

I tried the ZEBRA website, came back with 1 quote for $10k... i don't live on the water but ~750 feet from the sound and not in a flood zone.

Hoping to hear back from AAA and Farmers as well.

Are you an independent agent? I’m about to start shopping as soon as State Farm and I finish wrestling over their latest denial of a claim.

a couple years ago they raised it via letter (you had to opt out of it and I never open my mail). It was bullshite and the last straw for me

SF always took care of me but I damn sure paid for that courtesy. The agent who I never talk to otherwise had the gall to call me and bitch that I didn’t give her a chance to make it right...like she didn’t know I had a damn claim

whatever, safeco is fine. My house is paid for and it’s not even that valuable as a structure...the land is worth way more

I knew it was coming, but still ticked. Just added pool and was okay with my plan. Now I go searching again and will certainly cost a fortune. Guess I will try going back to ASI. Thanks for the roof, FedNat.

I don’t. I’m an independent life agent but I did start out as a P&C agent years ago. I obviously don’t have nearly as much experience on the P&C side as I do life but I know enough to know that as crappy as some of the big names are, if you can qualify it’s always best to pay more for the big name than to go with these crappy Demotech companies. The two best, in my opinion, are USAA and Farm Bureau. There are those who disagree with me on that but I continue to be proven right time and time again every single time a Demotech company picks up and leaves the state.

ASI is shut down for new business. Most people aren’t eligible for USAA, if they’re even still writing at all. The rest of your list haven’t been writing in the New Orleans area for quite a while, well before all the recent storms. I think Farm Bureau was writing x-wind policies and getting wind/hail through Geovera, but now Geovera is pulling out of LA and non-renewing everything.

Any thoughts on Liberty Mutual?

So far, the best on price by a wide margin. I didn't expect it.

I am eligible for USAA but their prices are extreme.
