Fall Tomatoes Advice

I have some tomato seeds and was planning to grow fall tomatoes.
So when approximately would you plant the seeds (indoors) so that they are ready to plant outdoors when it cools off in South Louisiana. And when is that exactly?

I started my tomatoes as seeds 3 weeks ago in Houston, I think your a shade late but still can't get some good crop off barring a freak early frost.

I've never had much luck growing fall tomatoes here in BR. Just too hot and they don't set much fruit. I don't even try anymore. Good luck though.

Agree with mad, I think it’s a little late to plant seeds. I’d consider some started plants for your fall garden and save the seeds to plant in the spring.

I started mine 3 weeks ago as well. Might be too late, might not, especially if you have a warm fall. Give it a shot. Homegrowns are worth the trouble.
I found some better boys at my local co-op and put them in the ground the same time I started my seeds. Put plenty of plants in the ground and break off new growth and a few blooms to help them deal with the heat.

Probably a little late for starting seeds. At this point I’d buy some transplants. I’d probably go with a heat tolerant variety that will set in the higher temps until it cools down.

Not sure about the seeds you have now, but I’ve planted stupice tomato seeds in mid September and still managed to eat several tomatoes before the first frost (False River area).
