So many messy trees suggested. Birch and cottonwood, nah. I vote live oak if you are in LA.

I have a spot for a tree and am thinking sassafras. Mid TN. They look interesting.

My neighbor planted a Pin Oak for this exact reason.
It seems to be providing shade as planned.

Drake elms are cool, but their roots are very shallow and they blow over very easily

I have several and they all survived hurricane IDA in south louisiana

Lost mine in Ida and barely missed the house; was about 6’ from the house when standing, and landed right next to it.

Neighbor 2 doors down has an Elm that took some wind damage from I’d, but still thriving. The drake Elm across the street looked like it lost a few leaves during the storm. Sometimes it’s just the luck of the draw.

Maple. Red maple or sugar maple both grow fairly quickly. Deciduous.

Yep! Can't go wrong with Maples. Beautiful leaves too!

Hackberry. Grows quick, tough and has small leaves.

With that said, it constantly spits branches everywhere that you'll have to pick up. Otherwise, decent tree.

You sound like someone that would sell a broken watch.... because the time is right at least once a day.

River birch

Yep, I planted a few some years back and they are pretty big now. The dropped sticks are great for kindling too.
