Is it too early to plant cucumbers and tomatoes in your garden? I live in Baton Rouge.

When I read the topic title I was expecting this -

Then I realized I was in a home and garden board and not the OT Lounge

And yes, now is a good time. I don't think we're going to see any frost from here on out. Fall is better but now is good too.

I planted 1 1/2 weeks ago. After that last cold spell I checked the 14 day forecast & was comfortable with the overnight lows.

Mine were late getting into the ground: planted on Sunday, but should have been in two weeks ago. I'm hand watering for a week or so, then putting down the soaker hoses & deep mulch. Need to plant some zucchini seeds ASAP.

I planted both 2 weeks ago and another batch yesterday. Will plant a few more in 2 more weeks to space the harvest out.

Fine to plant now. I planted my tomato's two weeks ago and cucumber seeds yesterday. I also had an unexpected surprise. Some of my tomato plants in the fall had some of the fruit fall on the ground. Well when I was in the backyard picking weeds this morning I noticed 10 or so small plants I thought were weeds, but they were actually different tomato plants. I pulled them out the ground and placed in containers. Now I have a crap load of tomato plants. Guess I'll need a few more 5 gallon buckets.

I plant most of my tomatoes last week of February and wait a little longer for cucumbers. I planted half of my cucumbers by seed last week. If they are started too early they sprout quick but dont grow much anyway with the cool nights

Watch out though if they were hybrids last year the resulting seeds likely wont produce much. If they were heirloom they should be fine to grow this year.
