Mine have been flying for over a month. I don’t stress over it unless their larvae (if any) start eating grass blades. Then I nuke them.

Scotts Grub Ex worked for me.

Those sound like sod web worms. PestStop in Baton Rouge has the product to treat for that.

They got mine. Big dead spots. Yard should have been nuked 2 months ago.

Bifen XTS usually kills them dead.

If it all goes to dirt, I'll just throw out new seed next year. Grass in the back was mostly all dead anyway with drought and the remainder weeds.

Mix 1 tbsp lemon scented soap in a gallon of water and drench a 4-square-foot area. Closely watch for 10 min or so and see if insect larvae come to the surface. Especially on healthy areas next to damaged areas. If present in large numbers treat with active ingredients Bt, spinosad, lambda-cyhalothrin, thiamethixam. Pyrethroids are most commonly used. No irrigation for 24 hrs. Probably gonna need repeat shot. They are night feeders and will be at soil level then. Stays in larvae stage for about 25 days. Has a 6 wk life cycle. Very cold winters usually limit the subsequent infestation.

This stuff cost $50 for a 10 lb bag at my local Lowe's. What else is good?

Go get a gallon of liquid Talstar. It's great for general pest control. Remember though, just because you see moths doesn't mean you have army worms or sod webworms.

This is why I don’t sweat it until I start seeing damage to blades. Too many times have I tried to treat the moths for others to just come back, or the larvae to later emerge and eat the grass blades. Sometimes I may see moths and never see damage to grass.

I sprayed Sevin over the weekend but still saw a few moths this morning (not as many).

I have some Talstar. Can I spray that this weekend?

Have they always been in BR? I didn't start seeing them until after the big flood of 2016.

That’s about when I first saw them on the Northshore. Been here all my life and they just appeared.
