Chainsaw recommendations needed

A large oak tree fell and I don’t have a chainsaw. The tree is about 2’ in diameter at its base. TS has Husqvarna saws and a local store has Stihl. Is Stihl the best choice? And what size would be right for this job?

Husqvarna, Stihl, & Echo all have great saws. Buy from a dealer that services the warranty work on them. I purchased an Echo CS-490 from St Gabriel Hardware, and it's been an awesome saw!

I am a husky guy but either one will do both are fine BUT a buy an extra chain & file learn how to sharpen your chains it’s easy. Be very careful if you have never been a saw slinger before maybe invest in chainsaw chaps, a chainsaw cut to your leg will be an er visit over 3000 and disfiguring. wear boots gloves long pants eye protection. If you get tired fatigued stop take a break eat drink rest and take your time chainsaws in a novice hands can be damn dangerous. I would go ahead call up some buddies buy beers steaks rent a log splitter cut and split it now fire wood for days

Stihls are great, but I have had good lucky with the cheapy Poulan. Has always started, even after sitting for a few years.

For one time use maybe a rental might be all you need.

Another vote for the Echo CS-490. Bought one last year and it has been a great saw. Lightweight, Starts easy and does everything I want it to.

If you don't have cutting beyond the tree you mentioned, it may be good to rent one.

I have a Stihl 025 and a MS391, basically the mid-range homeowner saw and their biggest farm/ranch saw. If I had to have just one it would be an MS362. If that's out of your budget the MS271 FarmBoss is an excellent saw too. I handled an MS500i a few weeks ago, that's a frick-you-money saw

I have the 362 and can attest to the fact it is a beast, especially after it is broken in. A big step up from my previous farm boss, also a great saw.

You can’t go wrong with any of them but Amazon has Chinese knock-offs that are exact replicas of those saws. Something to consider since it doesn’t sound like you will be using it a lot. They have solid reviews on YouTube.

Ask around......one of your baw friends will have a saw you can borrow for that one day job. Buy him a new chain when you are done & errybody happy.

Ask around......one of your baw friends
Might be overkill; however asking if a saw is big enough makes me wonder?

I have Stihl-250 and 390! The 250 will do what you want... but it might take a little longer. The 390 is a beast!
