With the exception of a couple name brands or gel/lithium batteries the vast majority of them, including OEM are all made int he same plants in China and white labeled.

Yep. Brands like interstate have never made batteries. They are just a marketing company.

I've had good experience with Interstate batteries from Costco.

I'll second this. I got a battery for my wife's 2010 Camry about 4 years ago and it's still going strong. Same for my 06 Silverado when it needed one.

Bring in the old battery and swap it out or they will be a core charge. At least that's how it was when I needed mine. Not sure what the policy is now.

One of the pullouts in Grand Teton National Park. Was on our way to Yellowstone so had to double back to Jackson for a new one. Doesn’t sound as remote as you but there weren’t many options in Jackson on a Sunday morning :lol

Ended up skipping YS and staying in GTNP for a couple of extra nights, which ended up being a good thing.

Almost all batteries available today are made in just a couple of plants….they just slap the appropriate stickers on them.

They are so high, it is tempting to buy the cheapest. However, quality goes down dramatically in the lower models of all brands, so at least be sure to buy the mid grade.

I have been buying batteries at WalMart for years. At a minimum, I get 3 years out of them usually longer.

Same. And independent testing puts them on the same level or in some cases better than the more expensive brands. I always get the 3 year warranty batteries.

Is Tennessee that cold? I use Walmart value even in a diesel. 4 year minimum life. They were $50 when they came out 8-10 years ago but I think they’re up to $70 now.

They all seem to last 2 years +/- given how you use them. Lights off, AC off, etc.. before starting etc…

I’ve tried interstate, AutoZone, Duracell, and the Sam’s brand (can’t remember the brand name) At this point, I go with the cheapest and best warranty. Autozone for a small Honda was over $200 a while back for a 4 cyl! I went with Sam’s recently and was under $140 for a V8. 2 year warranty. I keep a portable jumper now at all times too. Not sure if it is that the batteries are not great or that modern cars wear them out faster or both.

Warranty life extends from the original purchased battery so be aware of that.

Autozone got me with this today. Duralast gold lasted about 14 months. Went to exchange it and when he put it my number it showed that battery was an exchange on a previous one from 21. So no go. Wanted $230 for the battery, put it back on the shelf and went and bought a cheap 650cca everlast for $70 bucks. Going in my old hunting truck I’m selling so wasn’t about to pay that for another battery

Gets colder than Louisiana at least, about to have another arctic blast too. Trickle chargers or battery warmers go a long way to help the batteries when it gets really cold, even if it's only a few days.

If you are going through batteries every 1.5 years I’d make sure the alternator is good.

I figured that out after going through way too many batteries that I had a bad alternator. It was overcharging my batteries.

I usually get 4+ years in a battery. Assuming this cold doesn't knock it out i am due to change next spring. Duracell has treated me right

I buy Interstate batteries from my local interstate dealer. I always ask for a blem and get a new battery for about 20 to 30 dollars less than brand new. They can't sell the blems for full price and generally the only thing wrong with them is a visual scuff on the exterior or something like a broken plastic handle for carrying it. Otherwise there is no difference between them and a "brand new" battery. Most battery ware house type places should offer blem purchasing.
