Of coarse they can, I highly doubt it will be cost effective though.

How did someone cause this to need to be done?

I think the initial installer didn’t seal the countertops well enough. There’s all kinds of spots and light scratch marks on the countertops. Maybe the stone is a softer variety of granite but it’s definitely gonna need repolsihing

Yes they can.

Some granite is hard, some not so hard.

Why is that? I don’t know but I think you could get it done for under $500. Maybe $200-300? That would be worth it

Fixing to treat ours for a few stains/discolorations and then re-seal.

Because depending on the depth of the stains you may have to remove a good bit of material which could require having edging redone.

I personally would rather not have it done inside my kitchen due to the dust so the additional cost of removal and installation would make it pretty close to just buying a new slab and having it cut.

Not to mention after you spend the money you still have a porous soft slab in your kitchen.

I am a big fan of simply doing it right and forgetting about it unless the cost is extravagant and granite counter tops are not a very expensive item.

I’ve never heard of anyone doing this, typically just cleaning it well then wiping on a resealer is sufficient.

When they cut and shape the edge, the finish where they polish it in house is never as good as the top finished slab.

You'll be able to have it done, but it is going to create a ton of dust. be prepared to seal your kitchen off, and likely still find the stuff in your house. if you do the sealing and cleaning yourself, will save some $.
