Bird in Attic - Burder Murder or Capture Options

Cats started going apeshit about a day ago. I'm upstairs working and realize I hear a tweet that's way closer than the usual bird on the ridge vent. Walk in the attic and there's a small bird in there. How he got in, maybe a ridge vent? squeezed in some place? I'm not sure. The house is tight from the ground, only 10 years old.
I have a huge attic so he has a lot of space. Wondering how anyone else has handled this in the past?
Option 1: BB Gun. Won't cause any damage to roof plywood I wouldn't think? Wife doesn't approve.
Option 2: ???? She thinks we can trap it via small cage or trap? Bird is fairly small. Cockatiel sized I'd say. Not sure how long I want this little bastard flying around up there.

You sure it isn't a bat? You could get bit and get rabies without ever knowing it. I learned that on TD recently.
BB Gun it while the wife isn't around and tell her you captured it and released it.

zero chance you get that bird into a trap.
two options...let it die or try and catch it with a net

Oh I'm certain. Little bastard sitting on a wire up there just looking at me hopping around. I could bust his arse for sure, just never shot a bb gun in the attic before.

shouldn't do any damage if you hit your target. blind it with a spotlight and take care of it.
also, i think i'd be more concerned with how it got in there. is there a whole in a soffit somewhere?

I'm with you on that. Can't see any fascia / soffit issues on the ground. Need to get up top and inspect for possible squirrel damage or something

It had a little mask. Kind of a light brownish with a dark little bandit mask on it. Actually about the size of a parakeet when we got down to it. I managed to catch his arse in a minnow net. turned all lights off and put on a headlamp. He'd fly towards the light. Managed to net it, grab it with a rag and toss him outside the house.

Quick Google based on what I remember. Probably a wren.

Ahh...those little suckers will try to nest in anything! They're very loud, especially for their size...glad you were able to get it out safely!

Likely what it was given this descriptor. Little bastard was loud and chirped a bunch up there. Cats were losing their minds.

we have a few here that will sit on the rail on the front porch and harass my cat when she's on her tower looking out the window...she chatters right back at them...

Option 3 - put the cats in the attic for an afternoon!
Seriously, just borrow a fish net and catch the thing.

I had one a while back. The rubber gasket around a sewer vent dry rotted and the bird got in that way. I have an attic drop in garage so opened that and bird flew out after an hour or 2.
