Any thoughts/experience with the Betta Bot skimmer?

BettaBot

I feel like unless I skim the pool surface twice a day for leaves and crap flying around I'm losing the battle. I've seen this solar robot skimmer online and would love some feedback. Thanks

I've had mine for almost a year now. It does a pretty good job and I'd say worth the money. It has adjustable feet on the bottom that is supposed to keep it from getting stuck on steps or shallow areas but mine still will occasionally get stuck on my step the leads to the tanning ledge. It keeps a good charge via solar but on days that are completely overcast all day, it will run out of juice sometime overnight.

It looks legit but depending on your landscaping, it’ll only really help for a few weeks out of the year. Maybe ask yourself if you want that thing in September.

This is how I felt until I got the betta bot. It's great. Definitely not going to get everything, but I rarely have to skim the pool at all now.

ETA: If you have a corded pool cleaner, the skimmer will get tangled up. I have a pressure side cleaner, so I can't have both in the pool at the same time.

I have owned one going on 2 years now. Had an issue with one of the propellers and was covered under 3 year warranty (add'l purchase but inexpensive). Great customer service. I leave mine in year round as there are cypress, oak, pine and crepe myrtle trees all around my yard. WELL worth the investment and keeps the skimmers virtually debris free.
I run my pool at night, so I take the betta bot out and place the robotic floor/ wall cleaner to cycle during pump run time.

ETA: Since I don't run my pool when the Betta is operating it has a much better chance to get debris before entering the skimmers.

Those saying that you can't run the betta bot with say a polaris cleaner...

Does it get hung up on the hose floating on the surface?

And thank you all for the info.

Mine will eventually get hung up on the Dolphin cord. I remove the Betta when I put the Dolphin in the pool.

It will get hung up on wires if I don't take the cleaner out. I do not have a polaris type cleaner, so can't answer to that.

I’ve got the SE Plus from Betta and it’s done great. Leave it in year around and like the fact if it’s cloudy a few days in a row, I can take it out and charge with a cord vs relying on solar strictly to recharge it.

I also have WYBOT C1 cordless that’s been really good for floor/wall cleaning but I wouldn’t recommend them due to poor customer service. In tandem, the combo is impressive, but I think there are better cordless cleaners on market. I’ll probably move to Aiper when/if WYBOT dies.

Had ours since November, it does a great job, it does get hung up on the vacuum hose and a shallow step sometimes. But overall it’s been pretty good.

Thank you. Got one and doing great so far. You didn’t mention that it has a remote control that you can use to maneuver around like a toy ship.

Update:

I pulled the trigger and am on the 3rd week with the Betta Skimmer.

It has run 24/7 straight out of the box and has done a very good job in keeping the surface clean. The biggest plus to me is that it collects all the little crap that forms on the surface. Of course collecting the leaves is great.

It's only gotten stuck in the skimmer once but as predicted it does occasionally get hung up on the polaris hose. I've watched it many times as it seems it's about to get stuck on the polaris hose but ends up maneuvering itself away from the hose.

Purchased on Amazon as some suggested. Actually got $100 off on Amazon by signing up for Prime card.

Review to this point... I'm very pleased and would purchase again.

No or at least I hope not . Wybot's customer service is non existent if you ever need them, app was junk but has improved slightly with updates (only way to change modes is via app so I run floor only for fear I may get locked into a mode I don't want). Robot cleans really well and have had it going on a year, but if it were to die tomorrow, I have no hope that I'd get any resolution in any reasonable amount of time from Wybot.

I am strongly considering getting one. I dont have leaf trouble so much, but grass clippings drive me nuts. No matter how careful I am I end up with a covering of grass. My skimmers take a couple days to filter them out. Lately I have been turning on deck jets to agitate water and have them sink, so my pool vac can take care of them.

We've run one for a year with a polaris also in the pool. It was annoying how often it would get stuck on the floating hose. Last week, i wrapped fishing line across the legs and put it back in the pool.... hasn't gotten stuck again.
