I have about 400’ of fence which has a ditch on the other side. Anyone have a secret to keeping this maintained without me breaking my back weedeating it all? I’ve strongly considered just spraying roundup over the entire thing but I’m sure I’d regret it. Also thought of buying culvert pipe then just filling the ditch in so I only have to weedeat the fence. What do you guys with lots of fence lines do?

Following. I’m about to have the same problem and would prefer to not weed eat 450 feet of fence line on two sides.

After you clean up [kill] the weeds along the fence, buy enough roofing singles ... the solid kind used to cap the ridge of a roof.... [or rolled roofing] to lay it under the fence. This will be wide enough to stick out several inches away from the fence where you can mow the grass.

No more grass along the fence. This is often done on mobile homes skirting.
