Buy an old Maytag, Kenmore 110, etc washer and dryer from a used dealer. They will last 20 years and easy to work on to keep going.

Speed Queen TC5 washer and DC5 dryer. Hands down the best available right now.

This is what we purchased for our new home after decades of using front load washers. We went with a gas dryer.
This was our first Speed Queen set and 10 months in, everything works great. Not crazy about the lint trap design. There is a screw that holds the lint trap in place so I took the screw out and it just "sits" in place.
I did that so I pull the lint trap out after every load and vacuum the lint with a cordless Ryobi vacuum. YMMV

Be careful with the age. Ask if the transmission is still available. We had a Maytag washer and dryer for 30 years, but ended up replacing them with a Speed Queen because the transmission for the washer is not available anymore.

We are still using a roper from Lowe’s from 2002ish. Only thing replaced has been the lid switch. I may shed a tear when this thing bites the dust.
