You trying to kill fire ant beds?

I've had the same jug of Amdro for years. Just sprinkle a little on top of any beds that pop up and they're gone in a day or two.

This is basically Terro, but Terro is syrup form.

Yep, fire ants in the yard and I don't think the neighbors would like me walking around kissing tequila all over my yard.

Big bottle of squeeze ketchup. Make a thick ring around the ant hill. As the ants go back and forth, they walk thru the ketchup, get the reda$$ and leave.

This stuff is the best I've ever used for fire ants, and it is all I use now. It stinks to all hell, but gets the job done. The active ingredient, acephate, is in a bunch of different brands. Just sprinkle some on each bed, no need to disturb the bed.

Large fire ant beds can have multiple queens, and they don't feed every queen the same diet. So, sometimes after poisoning a large bed you will see a couple smaller beds pop up closeby. Just treat them and they'll die quickly.

Go to the store and get a large jug of Amdro ant killer then mix 10 parts amdro to 1 part cornmeal. Though I don't really think the cornmeal does much and lately I've been omitting it from the recipe.

This is what I use for ants in the garden. Works great.

This is what I use for ants in the lawn. I buy the orthene fire ant killer from Lowe’s. Works better than just about anything else I’ve tried.

Easy, simple, safe and cheap spot treatment is pouring a half gallon of steaming hot tap water into the middle of the mound (boiled water will kill that spot of grass).

Steam cooks all the eggs and larvae I presume.

That stuff is all I use now too.

It won’t always work but if you try to put a ring around the outside of the mound, they’ll have to drag the queen through the ring, ultimately killing her if they try to escape.

I think it depends on the type of ant a little bit.

Fire ants: I get a bag of poison at Lowes or Ace. Pretty cheap and that small bag has lasted me years. I don't get a lot of fire ant beds.

Sugar ants: 1:1 vinegar/water. Got the advice on here a few weeks ago, and it worked. Had sugar ants all around my front porch. This cleared them up really well.

Not sure about other types of ants. These two seem most prevalent.
