Anybody have a bat house? Tell me all about it. I’ve been thinking it would be cool to have one to help with bug control.

I have one and installed according to directions and feedback from about 20 youtube videos I watched. Bats still roost in my carport or barn and bat house routinely occupied by wasps.

I have had one for around 1.5 years... no bats yet.

Woodpeckers love to drum on it. It is super loud so I think it makes him feel really manly.

I think bats hang out under my deck at times.

Did you ever get started on this?

I just found one on my property but I don't think it's inhabited

I gotcha. Found this one a few days ago. It just doesnt seem very big to me. Now I am smack in the middle of BR so I dunno how many bats we actually do have around. I did find this guy on the porch a few weeks ago. Thought he might be dead but when I went to nudge him to pick him up, he started hissing at me then just flew away.

Putting a bat house in a tree is strongly discouraged by the bat people. It makes it too easy for snakes to raid.

I can take it down I think. It was left there by the previous owner. It's about 20 feet up there

He was hissing at me because I think I startled him. He was small though. Easily fits in your hand

You should have some in BR. We can see numerous flying around at dusk looking west over the trees.

You can put a white paper plate under the tree and the little black droppings will show if they are roosting.

Also if it’s already there - I’d leave it up.
