Had started seeing armadillo sign in my yard a couple of days ago. Found a burrow under a big bush today. How should I handle the burrow?

Should I just fill in burrow? Try to see if the armadillo is in the hole first? Move my trap to the hole before filling?

Try and trap him and put down and insecticide that kills grubs. That's most likely what he's there looking for.

ETA get some 2 x 4s or something and try and funnel him into the trap

Armadillo can dismantle those metal traps you buy at home depot. I have personal experience with that. Saw it when he got in. Lifted the trap up longways. Sucker just brute forced his way out the door. He never returned though.

Put some debris at mouth of hole to tell if he is using the hole.If he is,run a piece of water hose down the hole.Pour couple cups of ammonia down the hole then blow it down the hole couple of minutes with leaf blower.Get ready,he’s coming out.

i had one coming out of the woods behind my house and I tried trapping and couldn’t catch it. Used boards to try and coral it. I went out with a flashlight to check the other night and that fricker was there. I planned on shooting it but it wouldn’t get out from under my gas meter. A swift 2x4 to the head did the trick.

Unfortunately I think I have another one now.

Quite a few years back, someone asked the then County Agent what to do. His answer to the newspaper inquiry was to pour gasoline down the hole.

He caught some flak for that.

I beat three of them to death with a shovel this year. My husband saw me kill the third one and was aghast.

I have been fighting these things tearing up my yard for years. I work my arse off making it look nice. Enough is enough.

Plus, I have been stuck at home with no sports to watch on tv. Enough said.

In response to OP's question about armadillo holes, I have poured a gallon of ammonia down one before. After some time went by, they went back into it. Then the next time I had a huge burn pile in my yard. I took four or five shovelfuls of the hot coals and threw it down the hole, then covered it up with the dirt they dug out to make the hole. Haven't had any return to that hole.

I said I had enough. I will tolerate a lot, but when I reach my limit, it's on.
