Anyone have a 30-35 gallon gas caddy?

Or something similar? Thinking about getting one so I don’t have to sit in gas lines as often should a hurricane come and we lose power again for 2 weeks.

Why not get 6 5-6 gallon gas cans?
I too have pondered this and i just can't find the benefit of buying such a contraption. The thing would weigh 250 lbs filled and having to lug around vs portable more convenient cans for daily usage.

I already have those. Was mainly thinking of something easier to use with a generator and can go in a corner of my shed which would take up less footprint. I’d like to have more than just my 6 5 gallon containers but don’t want to have twelve on the floor taking up all that room. I know it’s not more convenient to fill one up over the other but I want to double my fuel capacity.

I’ve pondered them but can not justify it. As mentioned, weight is the biggest drawback. They are very cumbersome and could not be easily lifted/loaded/refilled from the back of a truck.
I also don’t typically need 30 gallons of fuel, so a few 5 Gal cans is sufficient for normal, non-hurricane use without the fuel sitting for too long.

About a year ago I felt the same way and was about to buy something like you are describing. But I realized that I have 3 vehicles that hold a combined 60 gallons of fuel and just needed to be able to get that fuel so I bought a gas tapper. Gas Tapper
With the fuel I have in vehicles along with a few 5 gallon red cans I’ve got plenty enough to last a while.

Been thinking of getting a 30 gallon caddy as well. Havent pulled the trigger yet as I think it would just be in the way the majority of the time. Between the 4 gas cans I have and 100 gallons that I'd be able to siphon from my boat, that should be enough to get me through for a little while.

Well I won’t want to use up fuel in the cars. Might not be a bad idea to have as an emergency on hand but not going to fuel my generator from my cars fuel tanks.

I load up as much of the ice box/freezer as I can and head West. Yes, my next home will have a whole home generator, but this one will not and I'm over sweating at night while fighting to fuel/service a smaller generator ontop of worrying about where to get fuel.

Have you read the reviews, or actually tried to use the “gas tapper” to siphon gas from your vehicles? All modern vehicles have baffles in the gas filler tube to prevent siphoning, and a anti-spill check valve that will not allow a tube to pass through.

I have 10 nato jerry cans.
They are way more maneuverable than a caddy. I use a self starting siphon to empty them into my generator or more often my boat. Not having to deal with stupid gas spouts or funnels takes away most of the hassle of modern gas cans.

I have a 14 or 15 gallon caddy with a hand pump/siphon hose. I can get it in and out of the truck myself. Much larger and it'd be awkward. The hand pump just looks like a gas pump handle. If you have the tank higher than where you a pouring, it'll create a siphon after a few pumps.
It's right on the border of useful. I already paid for it after a storm. so it's a sunk cost and nice to have. But at 140 bucks, I'm not sure 15 gallons on a rolling caddy is that great. Its only three 5 gallon cans.
