Exploring the idea of adding a hot tub to our back porch. Having the guy who built it come out tomorrow to look at expanding the stair landing and make it structurally able to support roughly 6,500lbs which is the weight when full plus people. He can also handle the electrical needs but will be a pain since our basement has finished ceilings and that is where the electrical box is.
Any watchouts or must haves? Thinking about adding a roof so it can be used in rain, and possibly having a TV and privacy siding

If it has a drain function, make sure it’s situated so you can access and drain easily to a spot you want that much water to drain towards.

I built a deck for a hot tub my wife brought with her when we got married and realized only AFTER we had filled it with water that I had not accounted for the small drain bib. It was really hidden underneath the shell.

Not necessarily. We dug a pool and added a hot tub and our premiums did not increase.

I suggest a couple of claw foot bath tubs and an outdoor shower instead.

Really wouldn’t worry about where drain is. We bought a submersible pump for 5 bucks. Drop it in and it’ll drain the tub in 20-25 minutes.

Honestly, I have never seen anyone that used an outdoor hot tub very much after they built it.

Drain and the access panel to the pump and electrical board. You'll want to be able to get in there with ease.

Yessir. That as well is worth considering.

We use ours probably 3-4x a week during the winter time and at least once a week during summer. I guess it depends on what you like though. Ours is set up so we can watch sports/tv from it and it's super nice after a long day.

We use ours 5+ times a week. They are therapeutic and I hit all the seats to work different parts of my back. Definitely worth the investment. Unlike my treadmill or my shuffleboard table or my popashot.
