Had a 4 ton 14 seer Rheem installed in October. Works great. Also a new gas furnace at the same time. 10 year warranty and if anything goes wrong in the 1st year my HVAC guy will come fix it.

Not to burst bubbles, but warranties are usually on parts. I had bad luck with parts this year, they were on 6 week plus delays due to covid. So guess what, had a condensor unit fan go out in year 3 of a 5 year warranty and I had to pay to replace the entire outdoor unit due to not willing to wait 6 weeeks to get the part in.

Doubtful that situation happens again, but just saying don't only go by the warranty.

All positive responses...thanks posters. Honestly, I've never heard of Weather King so the input is appreciated.

Look like he sized it based on the rule of thumb of 1 ton per 500 sq ft.. Is this what you had before and did keep the house cool? If so, you’ll be fine. The 6 or so HVAC manufacturers in the US make many different lines of systems with different name badges, colors of cabinets, etc. but the internal components are pretty much all the same.

You mind sharing the approximate cost of the install ?

My A/C guy had a stack of different stickers when he installed our unit, he said the same place warranties them all so it didn't really matter what "brand" he put on it.

I'd appreciate it if y'all could provide some rough costs of the parts and labor and your location.

Mine was $7,100 installed.

$4,300 for the Rheem Sure Comfort 14 Seer 4 Ton, new pad, labor.
$2,200 for the Rheem Sure Comfort 100k BTU Gas Furnace.
$600 to move it from under our deck to another spot, and the associated different length of copper, drain line, etc that required. Also added a Honeywell Lyric smart T-stat.

This was all using existing ductwork and just replacing a bad A/C. The heat worked fine still, but going back up from a 3.5 Ton to a 4 Ton he suggested the new furnace too and it has a more powerful blower on it. We have an old house built in the late 60s that originally had just one unit. One of the previous owners added a small Heat Pump for upstairs only, but the ducts and vents are still connected to the "downstairs" unit and it made sense to go back up a size since we had a recent addition that is tied into it. We have about 2,200 Sq Ft heated and cooled, and all the equipment is in our unfinished basement. I'm not sure, but labor might be more if you have units in an attic or somewhere harder to get to.

Weather King is basically Rheem’s older style models. Mine says Rheem on every component including the big info label on the side. They keep the newest, shiniest tech for the Rheem label and slide the “retired” units to Weather King. I like a simple AC so it fit my needs perfectly.

Bumping this with a summer update on my weather king AC. Replaced a 1999 Trane with a basic WK. just got my July bill. It’s been working it’s arse off in the late afternoons/evenings but able to keep the house near the 70F set point. My Demco bill has consistently been 22% lower than last year. July bill matches that pattern.

Sounds about right. I've got a 4 ton 14 seer Trane for 1650 sq. ft. and I have 10.5 ft. ceilings throughout my house.

I keep it on 75 this time of year and it cycles during the hottest part of the day. Naturally, in the winter I keep it in the 67 range and the heat comes on only a handful of times a day during our mild winters.
