$5400 quote for bat & squirrel removal/cleanup

We have flying squirrels in the three attics and two separate companies are within $1,000 of each other.
Warranty only covers 4 years. Bats in attics too. That concerns me even more.
After that, if they come back it’s $2500 to remove them again after four years.
Anyone have experience with this?

Bats are an easy to fix (and entertaining) DIY problem. Not familiar with flying squirrels, but I would assume the solution would be similar to a regular squirrel. A tad more labor but not bad.

Sorry, I should have included what all the quote involves:
Pest removal
Walnut/food removal
Entry shut off for pests
Droppings removal.
Entry hole repair.

quote:well…how much of that would would be willing to do or have the expertise to do yourself? Getting the animals out I would leave to the professionals…but I would want to know how exactly they do that (kill in place, capture, etc). Killing the bats would not be an option I would choose.

The primary objective should be to locate and identify the entry points and seal those off. But you can’t do that with the animals inside the attic or you will have a problem that won’t have an easy fix.
You need more info from them…”how are you planning to do this?”
But obviously it needs doing ASAP

Built in exit-only holes, combined with offspring removal.
Then after pests are gone, multiple sealing of entry points.

Ouch!
I’ve been trying to rationalize it away, but I think I have been hearing squirrels in my attic as well. I guess I need to go up and see what the hell is going on!

My parents had some. I put deer corn in a cage trap and caught them easily.

Squirrels can do a ridiculous amount of damage. They're rodents that will chew all kinds of crap.
A few years ago they cost me $5k damage in some vehicles. Chewed up a sensor twice in one truck and then nested inside the air duct in another truck. Had to have the dash pulled.
Now I kill them with extreme prejudice. My wife bladts them with a 12 gauge and I kill the hell out of them with a Ruger 10/22. They can stay in my woods, but if they enter my 5 acre yard, they're marked for death.

I am in a subdivision, so I can’t be shooting a 12 ga! However, I have been wanting to get a good quality air rifle….this may be the justification I need to drop the cash and get one!
I need to cut all limbs that come anywhere near my roof and may look into a trap as well.
I wonder if they have young yet?

A friend had bats; paid 5k.
The bat company sealed up all of the holes- even the tiny ones you wouldn’t think they would get through.
Bats left, bat company said they would stay close though.
Bat company said they would come back for free and kick them out again for the next 4 years. 4 Years, 6m later, they were back.

-
Sounds like they were in cahoots with the removal company!

Like I said, bats are super easy to get rid of.
You just need to locate their entry/exit.
I wouldn’t consider paying someone 400 dollars, much less 5400.
All that other stuff is relatively minor as well.

About 20 years ago I had a company come in and remove bats from my attic. It’s very easy. If you like, leave your email address and I’ll contact you and explain the process.
