Zero rain here since Aug 16th, I’ve basically given up. Hotter than normal here AND we’ve already had our first freeze (Ozarks). Had planned a Fall crop of beets and beans.
I’m watering occasionally just for soil health.

dry as hell in south LA also but the heat has abated so every other day watering is keeping up. We do need a good rain though
when I get home Sunday from a trip I’ll harvest radishes, greens, kale and chard and obviously more okra and eggplant. We gave away two big bags of eggplant to the house painters yesterday…they said they looked like “penes” LOL

For a change I have a garden that is flourishing, I have very little planted but my mustard greens, carrots and lettuces are all doing great. Will have a picking of mustard greens in a week or so.

I filled in the last few spots in my garden over the last 2-3 weeks. Everything is flourishing so far.
5 different varieties of tomatoes; also have beets, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, several varieties of carrots, cauliflower, cucumbers, green beans, peas.
Had my second picking of beans today.

My spinach is just coming up. Something keeps eating my snow pea plants. Peppers still hanging in there despite the chilly mornings, but we need some rain in the Florida panhandle.
Persimmon tree producing like crazy. Shiitake and lion's mane mushrooms have made an appearance. Still waiting on snow oyster mushrooms. They want it to be colder.

It was 91 and humid today. Fall garden may be shot with this weather. I do have green beans about to start making. It hasn’t rained in 2 months.

Planted my tomatoes the day after Mother’s Day. Almost pulled them twice due to lack of production. I’ve been freezing 2 qts every other day for last 2 weeks, with no end in site. Okra is starting to peter out. Carrots, turnips, radishes, cauliflower and lettuce all progressing nicely. Still watering twice a day. We need a good soaking rain, all the playa lakes around here are bone dry.

Don't give up on it. Maybe next year is the year. It took mine a few years to settle in before it started producing.

Im going to get my carrots in next weekend. If it doesnt rain, Im going to start watering that half row with drop tape mid week so i am not planting those seeds in dust.

First mustard harvest yesterday. Amazingly mild and wonderful. I’ve got it growing out my ears, so excited. And my lettuce row should yield the first of a good many salads this weekend. Ordering quality seeds has paid amazing dividends

that is a fact.
I’ve had Home Depot seeds do nothing and baker seeds always deliver the goods. And they are cheaper in many cases
their seed catalog is a great read on the shitter too

I've got all of my carrots in the ground. I sequentially planted them at 3 week intervals 3x, so hopefully will have 3 rounds of harvest. I've got butter lettuce, red sails, and romaine. A couple of the butter lettuce plants have bolted. Do y'all find that you can save a bolting plant by just cutting the top off?
Cucumbers and peppers are still going strong, though I'm about to pull the cucumbers so the lettuce can get more sunlight.

we let all our lettuce and bok choy bolt and flower last year and it was a revelation as to how much life we had in the garden all spring long
