Nice! Everything looks beautiful!
My first round of cabbage seeds are all up and my fall cucumbers are flowering. The butternut vines are starting to spread like wildfire. I haven’t seen any more vine borer eggs either so… fingers crossed.

after the first heavy fruit set it’s not unusual for cucumber vines to start a decline

If you are in the N.O. area, probably due to the heat we are still experiencing. Combine that with no rain of late and watering will help but it goes away real quick when it's dry like it now is.
My garden area is nothing short of a dust bowl right now.

those are pickling cukes (which I like better for eating raw). They are excellent

It rained pretty good at my place yesterday. Good morning to pull some weeds with the ground being soft. The jalapeños look good. The first round of cabbage is slowly growing, putting on their first true leaves finally. And the butternut and cucumber vines are really taking off!

Cucumbers
Butternut
Don’t see any cucumbers growing yet, but I know they’re going to start soon…
The watermelon vines are still going strong with a few good looking melons on them.

I finally ripped up my cucuzza vine. It took over a 4x12 bed and jumped over and was in the process of smothering everything in two 4x8 beds near it. It'd already choked out my Butternut, candy roaster, and tromboncino squash. I got about 15 big arse dick looking gourds from it. I should have taken a picture of the pile it made. Stump as big as my fist. I don't think I'm planting that one today.

I mentioned in a prior post that my garden is basically nothing but a dust bowl now. Well, I got out and attempted to run the tiller through it to get things started for a fall/winter garden-----my favorite garden to put in by the way.
Anyway, after having ankle surgery late last year and the PT not going as well as expected, I just can't seem to do it just yet with suffering some pretty bad pain afterwards that had me hobbling around the house for 3 days after I tilled about 1/3 of the garden.
So, it looks like I'm going to do without a garden again this fall/winter, making it the 2nd year in a row not having one and it's only the 3rd time in over 20 years I've not had a garden---------and I'm going to miss it.
Pretty sure I'll wind up needing a follow-up surgery to get things in the right direction and am awaiting the results of a recent CT scan.

Labored on Labor Day. Have been cleaning my garden rows to prep for the fall garden. Decided to put heavy filter fabric down to try and combat the weeds. That’s the strawberry patch at the end of the row.

will all due respect and empathy…you don’t have to till. In fact, you’d do better if you didn’t. Layer like lasagna

Heck yeah. How do you like the candy roaster? I was looking those up and that’s a good looking squash. It’s a cucurbita maxima which is more susceptible to the vine borers. Did you have much trouble with them?

They're pretty tasty but not much different than a butternut. Vine borers eventually got it but took longer for it to wilt up than my desi and scallop squash. I'm not sure if borers killed it or the cucuzza killed it.

Finally got chard, kale, and cucumbers planted yesterday. I'm going to plant lettuce and carrots this week. Need to figure out my spacing first. Looks like some cool-ish weather may come through this weekend.

I just got some seeds for those - too late to start them?
I was going to plant carrot seeds today in the garden but I opened the bag and damn they are small.
Is it ok to just sprinkle them over the bed, or do I need to go find some tweezers and a magnifying glass?
