What fertilizer do you use?

Just some water soluble miracle gro all purpose. I dilute it at a quarter of the recommended rate and feed every other week once the seedlings get their true leaves.

Is it too late to plant strawberries?

Right now is a good time to put transplants in. In fact my local nursery started advertising them yesterday. I have a few gaps to fill, so I’ll be going pick some up.

I would try to repot them and bury them up those stems.

Seconded

ok.... why did the stems shoot up so much?

Weak lighting. Plants get leggy like that because they are reaching for more or better light. Since you left the cover on the trays there probably wasn’t enough light coming through. Also make sure you are keeping the light as close to the tops of the plants as possible. I keep my about an inch from the top of my seedlings and move the light up as they grow.
ETA: What's good about tomato plants is if they get leggy you can just bury the stems and new roots will grow. So it's easier to correct for tomatoes. That doesn't work for every plant.

I would start over. That would be hard to correct.

Repot and start another batch. If the re-potting works and we get a late frost, you have a backup set ready to go. I used to do that and my kids would sell the tomatoes and peppers if I did not have to re-plant.

I’m about to have to water again. Do you mix fertilizer in with what gets watered in from the tray below, or pour a little on the top of the soil?
Posted on 1/27/23 at 1:11 am to meeple
Yes. It’s plants not heart surgery.

Google Foliar Fertilizer. Miracle grow and other Foliar Ferts can be applied directly to the leaves of the plants are the soil. The plant will absorb the nutrients through the leaves. Just make sure it’s diluted properly so you don’t burn the leaves. Also, during the heat of the summer, I avoid any water on the leaves even with adult plants bc it will cook the leaves basically in the heat so I always water or fertilize in the late evening.

A little bit of both. At the risk of sounding like an arse, I’m going to echo Mr Sausage. Try not to overthink it.

I tend to overanalyze everything. Trying to change my black thumb to green… hopefully vegetables are somewhat forgiving

Well I certainly don’t want to discourage anyone from asking questions. That’s what this thread is for.
