Did they get sprayed with something? Leaf curl like the second photo can be a virus or a result of herbicide damage. I also noticed that there is a wilted branch in the first photo. Is that branch broken or is it dying off?

Wouldn't you know it, just as my tomatoes are starting to ripen we get daily torrential rains that totally saturate the ground. This often leads to my tomatoes splitting from taking up too much water.

You may know this already, but you can pick any that show even the slightest streak of red and let them ripen on the counter inside. I've ripened tomatoes inside that were all the way green when I picked them.

In just one week they went from nicely growing vines to a completely uncontrolled mass of vegetation. I yelled at them that they better get their shite together and give me some cucumbers before they get all diseased, because I'm not helping them out anymore.

Man I laughed hard at this. I was gone for 3 days and my cucumbers did the exact same thing. They are intentionally ignoring the trellis.

I’ll try yelling at them this evening.

Could just be environmental stress. That could make it more susceptible to disease as well. With the roller coaster weather we’ve been having some of my plants are looking rough also. But as long as they’re still producing I try not to freak out on the aesthetics. That said, I’ll be doing a peroxide treatment soon. It’s been entirely too wet lately.

And of course some of my nicer sized tomatoes are cracking as well. I did have one small big beef succumb to BER, but so far that’s been the only one.

I may have to try yelling at my cucumbers and butternut as well.

Thanks.... regarding peroxide, worth it to combine with the copper solution at this time as well?

I’ve never combined them. I don’t know if that’s ok to do or not. When in doubt, do separate sprays a day apart.

Sprayed w/ neem oil recently, and the occasional peroxide misting. Could overspraying the neem result in burn? I apply in the evenings, about once a week.

And yes, that was a broken branch.

I've been doing this the last few days. They keep making some excuses about the wind.

I looked closer at my mass of vegetation, and found two vines that were hiding along the ground. Turns out, they were my two longest. I have them going up the hog wire now. Fingers crossed.

I have six cucumber plants that I started from seed at the same time, they're in the same bed. One is about 4 ft tall and has a bunch of flowers on it. The rest haven't even made it to the trellis yet and have been stagnant as far as growth. Not sure what the difference is.

Doing a garden for the first time this year. Nothing except my jalapenos are looking good and the jalapenos are the only ones in pots.

Mine are raised beds and I know my soil mixture is fine but my tomatoes, bell peppers, banana peppers, and especially cucumbers aren't looking great. The tomatoes and cucumbers are really yellow and the others have barely moved.

I lined my bed with contractor garbage bags to prevent weeds from growing up but I think it might be keeping the beds too moist. I figured all the rain would be good for them but it looks like it's been hurting more than anything.

Maybe my beds are holding too much water because I lined it?

That’s probably holding a bunch of water. None of those plants like wet feet so drainage is critical.

Ok, the flag has been raised to signal the pollinators! Hopefully they’ll see it.

Really haven’t been seeing many bees lately. My honeybees fly right over my garden most of the time. But usually I’ll see bumblebees galore. They’re usually the workhorses for my garden. Anyone else having this problem as well?

Everything is either in full bloom or starting to flower. Need them to show up.

My watermelon vines blew up recently and are starting to flower.

Can these be planted mid summer after I pull my tomatoes? Last year I planted bush green beans after the tomatoes were done and had pretty good luck with them. It'd be cool to have some watermelons if possible.

Yep. They love the heat. But I'd try to get them in before the end of July in south LA. Most watermelons take a long time to reach maturity. 90 to 100 days I think.

Thanks, ordering seeds now. I guess I could plant them before I pull all my tomatoes so they have a jump on them.

Yeah, first sunflower is out here too!

Mainly the occasional bumblebee around the backyard. Haven't seen many honeybees, but nobody around here has a hive... that I know of.

Haven't used any fertilizer yet. Was going to do that once the rain holds off for a few days. This weather is driving me nuts.

Ok I'll poke a bunch of holes through them this evening. It definitely can't hurt. My beds are only like 16" or so deep.
