Just bought some jalapeño transplants. The ones I started from seed, I don’t know what they are. But they aren’t jalapeños.

That was a brand new pack of seeds, too. The peppers that are forming are sort of jalapeño shaped. But they’re yellow and taste sort of mild and bitter. Tossed the remaining seeds in the trash.

Oh well. shite happens.

Finally got dry enough to work...

Corn coming along

Potatoes looking good

Snaps doing alright

Tomatoes didn't transplant well and had to be...replaced.....not happy about that.

Jalapenos starting to pop

Squash, zucchini, and cucumbers not as far along as others, but I had to sow new seeds after that cool spell a couple weeks back

Purple hulls and butter beans dragging their feet...

Hopefully we won't get too much rain over the next few days, and I'll be able to clean up the rest of the rows.

Update on leaf miners. I have been spraying my tomatoes with “bt” and there is a dramatic decrease in the amount of new leaves being affected. Seems to be working so I plan to cont weekly spraying.

For cantaloupe do y'all pinch off early flowers or try to reduce the number of flowers or fruit per plant in any way, for the purpose of maximizing size of each fruit?

How do you keep the weeds down in that?

I didn’t do any of that last year and fruit size was never a problem.

Tractor when it's dry, hoe when it's wet

I prefer dry springs

Ok good to know. I might try it on a couple plants and leave the others alone, see if there's a difference in size or sweetness. I like big melons

Happy National Gardening Day! Hope everyone gets a chance to enjoy the garden today! It would be a good day to share some photos.

Not to be confused with May 6th, which is World Naked Gardening Day. I will not be encouraging the posting of pictures that day.

Strawberries still kicking and producing a few berries every day. I have several varieties of tomatoes (early girl, sun gold, better boy, honey comb hybrid, and some red cherry tomatoes) all flowering with small fruits. My cucumbers are coming along and peppers are very slow right now. Any suggestions to get the peppers moving or should I just leave them alone?

I haven't taken many pics lately, but I'll definitely have to do that this afternoon when I get home and give a progress report.
