Looks like I'll be waiting until next week to plant tomatoes and peppers. Not a fan of the forecast.

Yeah it’s really pissing me off. My tomato plants are needing support and I’m worried that they’ll break before I get them in the ground.

I'd rather not risk 40 plants. Plus another 70 pepper plants. I'll just start seeds a week or so later next year

I will not succumb to peer pressure.

Hopefully that forecast changes. I’m now showing a low of 36 for Sunday. Yesterday it was at 42.

ETA: On a good note, the strawberries are kicking it into high gear. Our first pickings today. Many more coming up behind them!

Shite. It's 37 for me now.

Could I cover the plants with plastic flower pots?

Everytime I look at the forecast the lows get lower

I have only a handful of plants and have seen 2 berries so far. They are in pots and the only fertilizer they have gotten so far though is dirty turtle tank water.

On Sunday, my 5 year old came in from the back patio and goes "Dad, I'm kind of mad at Jax (our dog)." I ask him why and he goes "I was looking at the strawberry plant and saw a strawberry that was ready to eat but before I could pick it, Jax came in and ate it!" Took everything I had to keep from rolling laughing

Maybe there is a reason I've only seen 2 berries...

I just gave away all of my extra tomato seedlings. Hopefully I'm not starting over next week.

Potentially dumb question, but is it okay to place cucumber/squash seedlings outside to get some light in temps that are in the low to mid-50s? They'd get sunlight but no warmth. I had them under my grow-light but they won't fit since I adjusted the height. They grew pretty quick so it's not a big deal to restart if necessary.

Won't be a problem. If it's over 40, my plants are uncovered outside.

As a precaution, I am covering them at night now. Not that I expect anything to happen with them.

I may have to just give up. Mocking bird with sneak attacks ruins every fruit. I guess bird netting will be bought for next year.

They’ve gotten to some of mine, too.

I need to employ the art skills of my daughter and try this painted rock thing.

Bringing them in just in case (40 tonight).

Also how do they look? Tomatoes look kind of rough… thin leaves and not deep green/yellowing. Should I be feeding them?

Something is already eating the eggplant leaves. Neem oil is on the way.

Eggplant looks great. Tomatoes look pretty good, but they’ll greatly benefit from going in the ground.

I’m going to leave mine out tonight and see how they handle the morning temps (41 for me). I’ll check the forecast for this weekend tomorrow and make a decision tomorrow on whether to plant or not. Currently showing lowest temp of 39.

I put them on my covered patio for a few hours and...

I started them too early anyway.
