My tomato plants have come down with something gnarly this week. Looks like septoria or perhaps a return of the bacterial spot. I pruned over half the leaves, sprayed with peroxide, and plan to hit them again tomorrow. We'll see how it goes.
Normally I'd be really bummed about this, but I'm so tired of picking tomatoes

It's probably all about to be wiped out by a tropical storm, so I'm just letting it ride.

Yeah, or at this rate, the plague. Who even knows anymore.

My garden has been the only highlight of 2020.

I'll be picking a bunch of green tomatoes this weekend with the storm rolling in.

Anybody take any garden damage from the storm?

Lost a couple pepper branches but nothing major. It never got too bad here (St. Tammany).

I've had worse random thunderstorms come through already this year. My garden is fine.

We staked the crap out of everything and didn't lose anything that I could see this morning. My tomatoes are winding down though. No new blooms or tomatoes in 2 weeks which is fine with me. After a couple hundred so far and about 100 more ripening, I am tomatoed out for a bit. lol

My tomatoes are just now taking off. I've picked some here and there but most have been pretty small. This last week the plants have exploded and are loaded with fruit.
Seems like the hotter it gets, the more they are growing which is unusual. This next week will be a good test with temps supposed to hit mid 90s by the weekend.

We gave away over 50 tomatoes so far and still wound up canning another 17 pints yesterday. I have officially run out of counter space and window sills. We have had 3 brandywine tomatoes at 1 pound or more. The largest so far was 17.8 ounces. There are 3 or 4 that may beat that though.

Thats nuts. I really hurt me that I waited so long to fertilize. It took a while for it to get going again.

That is salsa. I haven’t made any sauce this year. I didn’t make any last year either. That’s mainly because I just prefer to make salsa because we eat the crap out of it. But I’m thinking in the fall I might grow some bigger varieties for sauce. Like some big boys or beef masters.
Making sauce isn’t that difficult, though. Just blanch and peel your tomatoes, purée them in a food processor, strain any seeds (if you want), then cook and can your sauce. I used to simmer it on the stove until it reached the consistency I was satisfied with. That’s usually somewhere between 30 minutes to an hour. Add any herbs or seasoning during the simmer process. Then jar them and put them in the water bath canner for 30 minutes. You could also skip the canning process and freeze it if you’d like. I’ve done that with smaller batches.

Two of my tallest tomato plants took a hit. Everything else looks great.

Half of my tomatoes have some kind of spot real bad. Part of me wants to fight it. The other party of me is just totally over tomatoes.
