I’m going to thin out the beans and cucumbers today and sow the okra seeds.
What spacing do you thin beans to? I planted on 2-3 inch spacing, and damn near every one sprouted. But the place I bought the beans from doesn't recommend thinning. Seems odd to me, but I've never grown beans before.

Why thin the beans? They help support each other especially with heavy winds.

I sowed every 2 inches. Just power in numbers to make sure enough germinated. Thinned out every other plant. Still have pleeeeeeenty.
Got most of the herb box planted today. Cilantro, Italian flat parsley, sweet mint, lemon thyme, cinnamon basil, strawberries, and lavender.
I know the mint will spread and take over the box if I let it. My wife swears she will use the heck out of it to keep it in check. This is kinda her baby, so I put what she wanted.

For the guy who asked about storing seed packets. Put them in a storage bag in the refrigerator. I've got some 6 year old kale and lettuce I recently planted and they came up great. You must keep them dry in an area of low humidity. Frig great for that.

Update from the back yard... My bell pepper plant has its first pepper growing! Also my tomatoes have had a growth spurt since the downpour on Thursday.
My tomatoes have holes in bottom leaves. I'm guessing critter damage. Any ideas on what it is and how do I get rid of it?

Look up clavate tortoise beetles. See if you ever notice any on your plants. Also maybe hornworms. But something is definitely eating on your plant.

That’s definitely a pest. For now spray some neem in them. Come back tonight with a flashlight and check out the plants especially the undersides

Took a closer look... Whiteflies. Sprayed their arse down with soapy water. Hopefully that takes care of them
Did some more reading. They might be gnats as they were on soil, not plant

My lettuce is growing like wildfire. I have been eating the crap out of it. With the rain and warmer temps, things are starting to take off.

Installed a drip system on my raised bed today. Everything has really taken off this past week or so.

I applied the Texas tomato food on my plants twice since I got it 5 days ago. Noticed a difference already. Also after giving my pepper plants some nitrogen they look great again. No more leaves falling of either

I’m going to start applying it this week. My tomato plants have almost doubled in size since the last cold front. They also have lots of blooms and even a couple of small tomatoes already.
ETA: Y’all know I like to post pictures.
Bonnie green bell peppers
Got quite a few Cayenne peppers coming up
Beans are starting to climb

I’m picking suckers off my tomatoes and planted all my beans right before the rain today

Here are some photos.
Tiger zucchini:
After running the irrigation lines. I got 1/4" drip line with emitters every 6". Each emitter is .5gph. I'm gonna start out letting it run for an hour every other morning and see how that goes. Definitely will adjust as it gets hotter assuming that works to start. You can see I kinda ran it in curves around the tomatoes and squash just to get more emitters closer to the plant. I just ran it in a straight line past the peppers.

Mohawk. Gonna wind up with way too many of these. I have 4 of these and 2 redskins. I can't speak for the redskins but the yields on these mohawk plants is insane for a small plant.
This is that Celebrity plant I started a while back when it was still cold. It probably has about 12 little tomatoes on it now.
This is the Anaheim plant I overwintered. It's doing great too:
Corno di Toro Giallo pepper:
Carmen peppers:

Are your cucumbers doing any better? Mine are still growing pretty slowly. I transplanted 6 more last week that seem to be doing well, but for whatever reason, the ones I planted before the last cold wilt like hell every time the sun comes out. I have extras so I'm probably gonna replace them.
I also direct sowed a few and they've sprouted over the last week. .

They’re doing better, but they still seem to be growing slowly. I’m hoping now that they’re making a few bigger leaves they start to take off.

Where’d you get your Mohawk pepper from?
Posted on 4/8/19 at 2:47 pm to eng08
I ordered the seeds from Pinetree Seeds. Pretty close to 100% germination. I grew them last fall and the plant seems to do very well here (SELA).
