2, 4-d?

I had some Dune Bermuda put down at the end of August. I came in, but the fertilizer in the "slurry" sure did make every other kind of weed grow too.
The guy who put my grass down told me to wait until the temperatures get low and then to treat the whole yard with a product called 2,4-D. He said it would kill the weeds but not the grass.
When I'm reading the product though, it seems as though it only kills broadleaf weeds and won't kill other grass like weeds (including what I've always called "Dallas Grass" which is everywhere).
Is there something else I can get that would do the job better? Something in addition to 2,4-D that will kill the grass like weeds coming up?
I'm not a grass guy, so any info/help would be greatly appreciated!

Too late in the year to kill dallisgrass. Post pics to make sure it is dallisgrass. Big bucks herbicide but tribute total is what you will want to us. Unless you can find msma it is the only thing that will kill dallisgrass without harming your bermuda.

Segment (sethoxodim), several apps.
Best thing to do with dallisgrass is the “glove method” where one applies concentrated roundup with a cotton glove directly to the dallisgrass leaves. Wear a latex glove beneath the cotton glove.
To the OP: Try Celsius. Tribune is amazing(ly expensive). MSMA+Sencor is the second best way to clean out Bermuda. MSM and Celsius do a good job keeping it clean. If you have the money use Ronstar as a pre-emergent in late winter when redbuds bloom.

24D kills weeds pretty slowly and doesn't store in your sprayer for more than a week, so only mix up what you will use. Because it kills slowly, alot of weeds will throw seeds before the 24d kills them. So use it along with a good pre-emergent or they will come back. Don't use on bermudagrass when temps are over 85.

I thought 24D killed quickly and Atrazine took longer, no? Whenever I’ve use 24D, whatever I sprayed is usually dead within the next several days.

I need your mix then. Mine is the kind on the blue Bayer bottle, recently rebranded to something like "BioAdvanced".

Here is what's popping up all over my yard. 2 different types of grass from what I can see.
Will 2,4-D kill this? If not, does anyone know what will without destroying the bermuda around it?

Good grass will be dormant
Weeds will be alive
2-4d wipe it out

Are you saying 2, 4-D will kill the grass weeds in the pictures I posted?

Looks like sedges. I’m not an expert, so maybe someone else can confirm.
No, 2,4-D will not kill that.

2, 4-d isn't going to do you any good for the problems you have in those pictures. 2, 4d is a broadleaf killer, what you have are grasses and sedges. I use "certainty" for sedges, which is what is in your 2nd picture.
For the grasses, your best bet is to get on a good pre emerge program. Barricade (prodiamine) is good on grasses.
If bermuda is 100% dormant in January you can spray any grasses you don't want with round up, just do it carefully and make sure bermuda is completely dormant.

I have a bottle of this I forgot about. Can I spray this for winter broadleaf weeds and not damage my centipede? How is the amine different from the regular?

Yes you can, but it doesn't work well in cold temperatures. Try to find a warm sunny day to spray.

If the bermuda is dormant, wouldn't the grassy weeds be dormant too?
Can I lay down that pre-emergent now and then again in the spring, plus spot kill the grassy weeds with roundup and make that work?

"Winter weeds" will be growing. Different grasses and weeds grow in different temperatures.

Absoutely. Next year just try and do it a little earlier (mid october), but having something down late is better than nothing at all.
