Thoughts about current state of TD

Someone, I think Hugo who is an admin, wrote a post yesterday that asked if TD had seen its better days. Well, I think he had a point and there are some things that are contributing to that observation.
1. Unreasonable anchoring. I posted something yesterday that was making the rounds of Facebook and I thought deserved discussion and commentary. There were 50 comments made but then the dreaded anchor was weighed upon the thread. Now it sinks and sinks and sinks to cyberhellhole. Unfortunately, this happens all too often.
I started a Dragonball discussion on the Movie/TV board. It received the dreaded anchor as well. Hugo said he did it and said sorry, that will go on forever.
Well, so what if it does? Heaven forbid we should have long discussions or threads on TD. If its something that doesn't break the rules, is not repetitive, and people are enjoying engaging, WHY THROW OUT THE ANCHOR??? There was no reason or excuse for that one. Frankly, people get fed up with the arbitrary and unreasonable use of anchors. If the thread breaks the rules, it breaks the rules and delete it. Period. If it doesn't and there is no real good reason to anchor it, then don't anchor it.
Guess what happens when people get fed up with anchors? They quit posting. Maybe some of these admins aren't aware but Chicken needs hits to sell ads. In cyberworld, the traffic hits are power. Its like the guy who says I don't want to sell more product because my inventory might go up even though my profits go up as well. I don't think you guys realize how much you are frustrating people with these ridiculous anchors.
2. Too many boards. One thing I liked about OT was it was diverse. You never knew what to expect. You might discuss a rock band followed by a restaurant followed by an iphone thread followed by a gun discussion thread.
Not anymore. Now we have to give them their own boards. Now its the boards of the specialists instead of the generalists. Go to a board and its the same 20-40 people commenting and posting. Sometimes I might want to post something on the OT because I want to know what people think, not the 20 experts who inhabit one board. Of course, some board nazi will scream PUT IT ON THE ______ BOARD!!!! I think the specialization is hurting TD.
I love the site. It has a great layout. Love the mobile site. I keep current with news through TD instead of other sites because its actually quicker. The members are funny although we need some more female posters. ;-)
Anyway, that is just my two cents. No cliff notes. Go take your ritalin.

TD is fine. I guess I should expect this on the slowest weekend of the slowest month.

I've never been bothered by the anchors. I do agree on the board specialization, though. Sometimes I want the opinion of a broader cross-section that is available on the OT.

Suit yourself. its your board.

Anchors serve a good purpose. The reasons are outlined in the sticky thread above.
There are pros and cons of having more boards. There are more pros than cons.

I like the format here, though I don't care for the mobile version. Places like Reddit are too much of a shitstorm of info. I'm not even a member.

Hugo who is an admin

Hugo is not an admin. Is he impersonating an admin on the site?
Posted on 7/5/15 at 4:40 pm to Chicken
Fine. I guess I'll agree to that.

I don't know man. TD is an important part of my life, which I know sounds extremely insane. It is important to me being that I've made some very good friends IRL that post here and I turn to the site for my instantaneous news.
I almost lost my shite on my administrative assistant the other day when I was waiting for a document she was creating for me and I find her surfing the OT instead of working. The look for her when I asked what her screen name was made my day and I then couldn't have cared less if the document was created before the holiday or not.

Did you check the OT if there was a how to do ... thread on doing what she needed to do?
