My favorite rule was the "no more one letter posts". That bitch was stickied for a week and everyone still does it.

And while I do find a lot of the trolling on the board to be pretty funny, it still seems kind of stupid to have an entire board devoted to retarded internet personalities. I like the idea of SECRant, and sometimes it works, but it's almost impossible to have a thread that doesn't devolve into some kind of idiotic back-and-forth.

Yep and I think that's why the team boards were created. It was literally impossible to even passively mention Alabama/Saban/Bear/etc without a million flames.

The SEC Rant is currently a shittier version of The Paul Finebaum Radio Network. Only difference is we don't have a witty host to control who's talking and cut people off when they go full retard.

My guess is that posters who generally suck have a shorter rope than someone who regularly contributes. Those folks are obviously banned on lesser infractions than the others.

The problem is, the SECRant is filled to the brim with shitty posters, with a few good ones floating around in there.

The only solution is to start ruling with an iron fist and it will eventually curb the trolling and/or terrible, non contributory posts. No one outside of the SECR wants it to fail and shut down because we certainly don't want all those assholes ruining any other boards with their continuing feuds or shitty posting in general.

And I know what you're going to say, "be consistent." Then IMO, start banning everyone who messes up. No warnings, no passing GO, no collecting $200. Banned on the spot. People left around will get the hint, as will those who have been banned and reinstated.
