re: Wife Wants A Peleton Bike

Alternatively you could get a real bike and a trainer like a Wahoo and a Zwift, Trainer Road or similar subscription. Spend more on front end but you now have a bike you can ride other places. Second, I hate the fit of a Peleton. I tried for weeks getting a fit that I was comfortable riding for hours. Just could never get it anywhere close to the comfort of my road bikes.

We have had the basic bike for 5 years and it's still going strong with 2 of us using it 3-4 times a weeks.
I don't think the Bike+ (which was just announced when we bought) is worth the extra. The auto brake just seems like something else that can break and the swivel isn't necessary as you can use the app to cast the other classes to a tv.
We use the yoga and stretching classes regularly, but do programs like 5/3/1 or Greyskull for strength training.

Found a barely used plus (lady tore acl) close to home. Just finished setting it up and ready to get started tomorrow!

Still learning the “computer stuff” but did a quick 20min class this evening and wasn’t too bad.
Hardest part is getting shoes out/off the pedals!

I just want to say you are lucky to have a wife that wants a bike or even wants to work out…
I have gotten in the best shape of my life in the last 6 months but my wife won’t make any attempt at exercising or training . She has let herself go since our three kids. Still love her but hopefully things will change
I train 5 days a week every morning getting up at 430 and really committed, wish she would do something to get back to when I married her 12 years ago.

I got the echelon from costco 4 years ago and it was a great move. THe programs are good especially the strength training combined with rides. We also have the treadmill (wifey uses it, I walke 7-10 miles every day outside).

There should be a lot of barely used ones for sale.
They were a hit during Covid.

I have one piece of equipment in my gym that never gets used. It's a treadmill. Guess who I bought it for.

So far we use the heck out of it. The kids even enjoy it but sure they’ll get over it.

If it has the original pedals, there is an adjustment screw on the bottom you need a small allen wrench for. I swapped mine out for pedals that match my real bike.

Recently did this and this is the move. Ditch the stock peloton pedals, get some Shimano SPD or SPD-SL. Way easier to clip in and out vs the Look Delta style.

I went with Look X-Track. I was at the bike shop looking around for some things, mentioned to the employee I wanted new shoes that could double as spin and mountain bike, and I got some Specialized shoes and he said whenever he goes to do a bike fitting for spin bikes at people's house, he always takes a few sets of pedals for them to check out, and recommended the X Tracks, so I ended up getting those.

Save your money, literally 100% of the people I know who bought a peloton bike did not use it after two months and it was put onto Facebook marketplace …. and they only got a fraction of what they paid for it, if you do buy one I would start there

Are they Peleton instructors who rely on home bikes for income?
