Where approximately would you place mahi mahi on protein sources hierarchy?

I've been meaning to diversify my protein intake and I think I've had about all the chicken I can stand in my life. I could go a while without eating it again as far as I'm concerned.

I'm having Salmon tonight which I believe is universally considered healthy. Right now I'm down to salmon, beef, and tuna as my main sources of protein (and eggs to a lesser extent)

Mahi mahi once or twice a week be good to put in the rotation?

It’s a lean fish and relatively low in O3, so not something I personally would seek out, but If it was the only fish Incould get my hands on, then sure.

Do you eat dark meat chicken?

I highly prefer dark meat chicken to white meat chicken. Just looking to add some variety.

They didn't have mahi at the store tonight anyway

My issue isn't that it's the only fish I can get my hands on. It's one of the only ones I'm not allergic to.

Well, there you go. Good source of protein, no idea about contaminants, and you’ll have to get your fat and O3 separately.

I don’t really care for them, but Sardines are a pretty useful fish. I eat the shite out of Salmon and Tuna. Mackeral and trout are pretty good as well.

What about cod? Mahi is great but might get expensive from time to time.

Also recommended quality canned salmon, healthy and cost efficient.

If you are sick of chicken, don’t forget that turkey isn’t just for the holidays.

Why no pork? Or shrimp? Both great protein sources.

But all fish are good.

I was thinking about topping it with some hollandaise sauce to get the fat content or serving it with some avocado to balance out that.

Just difficult to find high quality shrimp in the grocery stores in this town

I do like both shrimp and pork though.

Living in Houma that’s one problem I don’t have. Been smashing the redfish and tons of shrimp sheds with fresh shrimp.

There are plenty of wild caught IQF shrimp in the frozen aisles at stores. I imagine they have to have at least one wild caught american shrimp brand there. IQF makes it to where when the shrimp defrost, it is like they are fresh.

Sure. I guess adding shrimp to my diet just isn't that high of a priority. I'll get it when I go out to eat which isn't very often these days.

I purchase the frozen mahi mahi from Costco. I like to put some olive oil and blackening seasoning on it, both sides. Broil it 4 minuted on each side. You don't get the seat like you do on the stove top, but much less smoke in the house. It's just a quick and easy way. I like sliced fresh avocado with it.

I'll probably do it sous vide and finish in the broiler
