Let’s assume you’re eating in a caloric surplus and getting 1g:1lb protein a day.

Day 1 - you hit the gym hard

Days 2 and 3 - you’re extremely sore so microfibers are torn

Where in the timeline of the repair process, does the muscle repair bigger and tighter? The days after, during, over weeks, etc?

You should ask LSU’s strength and conditioning coach

2 weeks 3 days and 7 hours but it depends on your sleep too and other factors so you could cut that down to 2 weeks 3 days and 4 hours if you sleep well or it could be longer or maybe even shorter. Or maybe even exact.

not really how it works.

soreness is not indicative of muscle growth

this article from RP does pretty good job breaking down the science

I know it’s not the end all be all. Just an example. Question remains, what’s the timeline or does no one know?

its individual and depends on recovery and how much volume was done, the intensity etc....you can just give a timeline

can i ask why you are asking?

Was just curious.
I’m strict on macros, calories, gym 5 days a week, but wanted to know at which part during the week or month are my muscles getting bigger.

I assume around the 48 hour repair window once extra satellite cells are released. I just hope those cells are sticking around.

It's gonna be on a spectrum. Different muscles will be at different phases at different times. And there's countless external factors that would make it impossible to quantify in a study. Sleep, blood flow, how hard the muscles worked, genetics, training experience, hydration, micronutrients to name a few. Why would you believe any answer that anyone would give you?

I believe I sometimes feel my muscles repairing and growing at night.

Anyway, I believe it happens when you sleep in the 24-48 hours after applying the stress.
