shite like vegetable oil can poison you for up to a decade. You can't fix this problem in a short time.

So this brings up a good question. At what point has obesity caused permanent damage to your physiology that you are stuck with / will always be threatened by? I know it's never too late to lose the weight and see benefits, but at what point are you fricked?
I was relatively healthy/fit in my 20's - not particularly athletic or strong but in the upper end of the normal BMI rating for my height (6'0"). I spent a few year of my lower 30's overweight, and probably 5 years legitimately obese floating between 250 and 270.
I turned 37 last week and am down to 205, working my way to 185 as a goal. 70% of results from exercise, 30% from loose dieting. Is it too late for me? Have I already fricked myself by letting myself get that bad for years? I realize I'll never look got without a shirt again because of stretched out skin, but assuming I keep this lifestyle I am on now, have I shortened my life already because of that "lost decade"?

at that age, doubtful.

there is no way to know for sure as everyone is different with the way they develop problems, blockages in particular, but we do know the later in life you are obese the worse it is for you.
Example a kid that is morbidly obese but normal weight by 21 is going to much less damage to his body than a 60year who spent their 50s morbidly obese.
the health problems will reverse themselves, but its not going to happen as fast as weight loss, that for sure. And its not gonna happen when you go from morbid to just regular obese like the OP did, not to mention he is late 50s.
