I've gotten to the point where I just feel unhealthy. I'm 29 years old, 6'1" and 215lbs, but the weight is not where I want it to be. It seems to be packing on to my stomach and waste only, and I just feel like crap...

Do yall have any tricks to stay motivated as far as dieting and exercise go? I've tried to eat healthy and usually fall back into my old eating habits after only a few days. We do have a Peloton which I ride from time to time, but not nearly as much as I should..

I've thought about trying dieting supplements. I just have ZERO clue if they are okay to take or not. I'm talking about the ones like you see on TV that curb appetites, boost energy, etc. etc..

Any advice will help!

EC stack. Go to Walgreens and get a box of bronkaid from the pharmacy and a bottle of 200mg caffeine pills.

Motivation is fleeting. If you want to lose weight it has to be a goal you are dedicated to and work towards it even when you don't feel like it.

I find the best way to consistently have motivation is an every moving goal post of a goal. For me it was get to 4 W/KG, then it was 4.5 W/KG. Now I am shooting for 5 W/KG. The other part of that is being passionate about your goal. Which I guess that is something you have or do not have. Good luck

"Do yall have any tricks to stay motivated as far as dieting and exercise go?"

Simple...lift weights. Get a program like Greyskull (see thread on this very forum). It is f'n awesome and the spreadsheet is totally motivating as you watch the progress go up even after the resets. I added a page for tracking my workouts and weight...again motivating as it goes down (if you're fat). Just the thought of the metal plates clanking together makes me want to hit the gym.
Wife and daughter are now hooked. There are many other progressive options...just lift.

As for eating you know what to avoid...avoid them.

Pretty much what this Mizooag94 said. I would start with the 5x5 Stronglifts program. 3 day a week program and has an app to track. Nothing feels better than getting stronger. Best motivation ever.

Thanks for the advice. I'm going to look into the few things suggested above.

Adam, I'm married and have a 2 year old so I dont go out on week nights. Weekends usually consist of house work and the occasional golf outing.

I feel you. I’m 27. 5’11 and 225. All in my gut. I just can’t get motivated to workout and eat healthy. I usually make it a month and stop

You have a mindset problem and supplements aren't going to fix that. Start by creating discipline and structure within your life. Plan your meals at least 1 day ahead. If you can meal prep on sundays you will not only make healthier choices but you will save tons of time during the week to do other things. Eliminate the processed BS food. Just don't even buy it and don't have it in the house. You'll eat less and save money.

If you start with those 2 things you will get better. If you can try to stick to a routine and start tracking your food in MyFitnessPal and you will do even better. Lifting weights to build muscle and improve your metabolism will give you a better chance of keeping the weight off long term. Everyone has to start somewhere and just meal prepping and eliminating junk food will make a big difference.

ETA: one more thing, when you get home from work don't sit down. Go outside and play with your dogs, take them for a walk, do something with your family, etc. Try to keep from being sedentary and remind yourself while you're doing it that you're improving both your health and family relationships at the same time. That should feel rewarding and help you continue to want to chase personal growth.

I would also add that you can make a dramatic change in a short time and all you really need to do is try to improve one thing each week.

Do you drink 5 sodas per day? Cut that in half and then cut it in half again down the road.

Do you sit on the couch too much? Go for a short walk, 10 minutes. Gradually increase that to 15 or 20 minutes.

Do you overeat each meal? Try to chug a glass of water a few minutes prior to sitting down to eat. Also, try to slow down while eating by taking smaller bites and chewing you food more thoroughly. All will lead to you feeling satiated before you over consume your calories.

Small incremental changes can lead to large results

What you need is discipline. Motivation is a short term and fleeting feeling. Have the discipline to exercise and eat right everyday. You don’t need supps or any tricks. Just get up and get after it. Either you want it or you don’t.

I would suggest the Shred app and do some full body, hour long or 40 min HIIT workouts.

Like someone else said, sack up and start eating better. At least Monday - Friday. It’s ok to give yourself the weekend and something to look forward to. Lower your carb intake significantly on those days.

And sure the Peloton is nice but no doubt that shite gets old after a while. If you’re going to workout all the time it needs to be something you “enjoy.” Keep it fresh.

Finally, getting into shape sucks. You’re going to have to pay the piper and build some sweat equity. But once you’re there it’s easy to maintain and damn do you feel better.

Good luck, don’t frick it up. It’s only your future.

I've been there. It's easy to fall back into shitty eating habits if you don't have a plan. The best thing that helped me was meal prep. I'd cook several days worth of food and freeze all but the next day's meals. If you don't have healthy food to eat when you're hungry it's too easy to cave in and get junk food because it's convenient.

Also, I personally don't respond that well to cardio. I used to race mountain bikes and would ride 20-30 miles every day and still had trouble losing weight. The easiest one had losing weight was eating clean and lifting weights. I actually won our weight-loss competition at work this way and I was eating more calories than when I started.

Realize too that it's hard to quit or start anything cold turkey. Set yourself some smaller manageable goals like maybe one week you cut out sodas. Then the week after you cut out sugary snacks, etc. As someone suggested above start with one of the beginner lifting programs. Starting strength 5x5 is simple to follow. Just 3x per week, a handful of lifts that hit the most muscles so very time efficient.

As far as motivation, at an alarm on your phone for workout and give it a name that will remind you why you want to get in shape. Maybe it's for your wife or kid. When that alarm goes off you want to see that reminder whatever it is. If you're like me you'll have a voice telling you to skip workout. You have to tell that voice to stfu. Do this consistently and working out will become a habit.

Coffee works just fine. My point is that motivation does not replace discipline. You just have to get up and go. Just do it. You can’t grow unless you make yourself uncomfortable.

Cellucor C4 for pre-workout. It will get you going. Once you feel the urge to workout, feel the difference it makes, you will be motivated. Start eating 2/3s of what you eat today and cut back on breads, sugar, fatty foods.
Good luck!

I agree with this, Stronglifts 5x5 is what got me out of the mode you are in and where I am today.

On top of this, I believe the 2nd most important thing is learning how to cook (if you don't currently). Being able to cook delicious healthy meals is a game changer.
