Did 30 miles on my hardtail on the greenway on Saturday. My son borrowed my trail bike to go ride downhill in practice for an upcoming race (his DH bike is in the shop) and sliced the tire so bad that I put 5 plugs in it. It's holding air currenlty, but not sure that I'm confident enough in it to go on a ride. So... looks like I'm installing some new rubber in the rear (easy) with cushcore (not easy).

I had my first puncture on tubeless this past Saturday. It spewed for about 2-3 seconds then sealed. It hardly lost any pressure. Thanks Silca.

Weekend was 47 miles on Saturday and 30 recovery on Sunday. Hung with A group on Saturday until some of them made a hill the selection point 30 miles in, and I couldn’t catch back on after being hemmed in with some other riders. But I broke a ton of power PR’s trying.

I have very limited gravel saddle time. My buddy wants me to ride rouge roubaix next year. I don't think I've ridden gravel more than 20 miles much less over 100.

And I was looking at the new Trek Checkout, but damn are they expensive. I'm tapped out at the moment so I might be looking at something from Facebook marketplace instead. Any suggestions for a good used gravel bike?

I’m thinking of doing Rouge Roubaix in the spring. It’s only partial gravel, so the bike choice is interesting.

And you allegedly just bought a Y1RS. Just take out a loan for that Checkout.

There’s a Checkpoint for sale on PinkBike that ticks a lot of boxes, but may be well used: LINK

If it were me, I’d buy a Yoeleo G21 frame (check geo to make sure you get the right size) and spec it out with SRAM Rival AXS XPLR (last gen-bargain basement discount) and then find a nice set of wheels or two (I have Bontrager Aeolus 3V). Another option would be the Winspace G3, but tire clearance isn’t as generous as the Yoeleo.

Dude, frick off or I'm gonna hit the RA on your arse. This isn't the OT. Stop harassing me.

And if you're just screwing with me, I apologize. It seems more like just being a dick.

I don't think that's a great idea after what I just did.

I'm gonna end up on a Walmart special since I don't regularly ride gravel anyway. But I appreciate the advice.

Right? That's what I've been talking about with him. He's done it 3 times already, but he's also mainly a gravel rider. Watching those videos on it, I'm honestly worried I'm gonna crash. Also, the thought of carrying a bike in the shitty spots doesn't sound appealing. But it does look like a fun event.

I think all-in for what I suggest you'd be under $4,000, including tires.

What I told you is what I have, I found the frame on PinkBike, though, and it is one size too large. I ride a 54, and it runs about a 56, so it puts me a little more aero than what's required on a gravel bike. There's also the the standover issue and I have the saddle slammed all the way forward and ride on the end of it, which has, in the past, caused it to tilt down on a hard bump. However, I recently lok-tited the shite out of the clamp and torqued it down better, so we'll see what happens. Otherwise, the bike is more comfortable than my Tarmac SL8.

I had some friends ride it last year and they had a good time. Some did it on their road bike, others on their gravel. I don't think I'd want to lay down my Tarmac on gravel. I think I'd do a tire swap and run it on my gravel bike. Running 2.2" RaceKings is probably not optimal with that much road involved.

Yeah, but outside of possibly doing this, I'm not really planning on riding much gravel. That's still way too much for a one off. Thanks though, that's a nice bike.

He ran 38c this year if I remember right and said it seemed balanced against both road and gravel, but I have no clue. If I had the money and I'd keep riding gravel, I'd be looking at a Lauf Seigla with that crazy front fork. But then I'd be living in a van down by the river

Those are nice and have big tire clearance, but not fully integrated cables/lines (which I prefer) and the fancy front suspension fork just seems like something else to break (even though it has been tested on Unbound, etc.). My big RaceKings and gravel saddle really take any discomfort out for me, and for as little as I have ridden gravel in the past. This year I expect to ramp-up some.

Yeah, they've been beat to hell and back and seem to hold up in the videos I've watched.

Ahhhh yeah, that makes sense. Basically, your saddle and tires act as suspension or absorption.

I hope so, it's in February. You're gonna blink and it'll be here!

I’d run it on my gravel bike but with 35mm GP5000 ASTRs. Way too much pavement for full blown gravel tires. 35mm Terra Speed at the most
