It's here! Went and picked it up this morning along with a Garmin 540. We just transferred all the measurements over to this one and i'll ride it for a week or two and decide if i want to go back to my fitter. Going to put the PPF on tonight and hopefully take it out tomorrow morning for my first ride.

Very nice ride. I used to have a Tarmac, loved that bike. Congrats.

Fall is so busy now my son is in HS my son isn't racing with BTR this year. But looked at the results and saw Finn's name towards the top of the list. Pushing up to 2nd after finishing dead last 1st stage is a big accomplishment. Any idea why that one guy was penalized 25s?
Feels like DHrs get so much more support and exposure than Enduro guys. But also much harder to get into those top ranks and not a lot of places to really be able to train the way you need to.

Bummer about not racing this Fall, but I get it. It was cool to see Jodie and the BTR crew at the race. Got to catch up with him a bit. The 25s penalty was for cutting the course on stage 4. There was speculation because that rider and his friend had been talking about a “sneaky” line. Someone protested. The racer offered up his GoPro and they found a different line he took that was judged to be outside the trail and to offer advantage. There was a lot more drama to it than that, but it sucks because Henry was going well all day anyway and didn’t need to “cheat” to win most likely (I’m not confident it was intentional and he’s one of Finn’s friends and a good kid).
Anyway, yeah… the DH stuff is nuts. Definitely feels like it has so much energy behind it right now… but the field in the US is insanely deep and asf in that 14-24 year old group. And most of those kids live that moto-style family life of homeschooling and just traveling around to races and ride spots year round. So it’s real hard to compete if you don’t have that lifestyle (and we don’t and won’t. School’s important to us).

I hear you there. Historically a lot of the BTR riders have been homeschooled and we just cant take Thursday and Friday off to go to races like most of them can. I head coach the Auburn High mountain bike team and I've been trying to get the school to recognize the team as a club sport so we can get Fridays excused to travel to races in state. Most of the other teams in the league are recognized by their schools which allows them to get an excused absence. Auburn is one of the teams that has to travel the most because most of the race courses are located up north. Middle schoolers race Saturday so most of them are pre-riding the day of the race as they can't get there in time Friday.

Hell yeah. Let’s get a ride report.
I’m going to skip a sprint tri in 5 weeks and focus on adding more miles over the next 3-4 weeks. I have my eye on a 100 miler (maybe) at the end of October.
Thanks to all on the advice earlier this summer. I figured out I likely overtrained in April and May, didn’t lay off enough to recover in June and July, and have over the past 2-3 weeks modified my gym schedule and riding to do less damage to the legs with weights and focus on a more pyramidal rather than polarized training regimen. It seems to be paying off.

I spent last night getting the PPF on and getting all the firmware updated, Garmin setup etc. I need to play with it more to get the settings where i want it but it was ridable so i took it for a quick 15 mile this morning.
Speed - this thing feels fast and it wants to go and carries speed well. Definitely easier to ride in a stiff head wind. I usually do an out and back on White Oak Bayou so i get it both ways. With that being said, it wasn't really any faster than the old bike but thats on me. I was off the bike recovering from my nut snip, then ankle surgery and by the time i got cleared summer travel hit. So i was basically off the bike for 9 months. But in a few weeks i expect to start crushing some PRs.
Drivetrain - There's no comparison from this latest get SRAM to the OG Red ETap. Old ETap shifted like a gun shot. This new one is smooth as silk. Need to play with the settings some but it's 10X better and i really like that i can see all the battery status in the app so i don't sacrifice a ride because a shifter battery went out. Brakes aren't even worth talking about compared to the rim brakes. And i love having a real power meter, already gave me much more insight into my ride vs the old calculated numbers.
Comfort - This is the most comfortable road bike i've ever ridden. It honestly feels like a gravel bike on the roads. I'm glad i went with the 30s and running them at 73psi made for a smooth ride and it just absorbs all the little stuff that used to hammer me right in the arse. The 3D printed seat is amazing compared to my old selle italia which was basically just sitting on a sliver of carbon fiber.
Overall i couldn't be happier with it. Some little things like the bonus buttons will be nice once i acclimate and get it setup the way i want it.

Dayum. That thing is sweet. Going from the OG Red Etap to my Force D2 setup was not necessarily night and day, but it was a big difference. Word on the street is that the SRAM Red/Force/Rival E1 brakes are a huge leap forward. The only regret I have running 32's is that they feel sluggish getting up to speed, but they still hold speed when you get there.

i run the same wheels with 30mm GP5000s at 70psi. perfect mix of fast and comfort/grip

It's a really great bike. Then again it should be for the $$ lol. I'm really happy I didn't give up and switch to a gravel bike.
I don't have much to compare the brakes to other than my mountain bike bit they work well but are a little loud. We'll see if they quiet up as they break in.

Have you played with any tire pressures? I'm about 215 (me + bike + kit). I played with a few calculators but some are ridiculous with the inputs and i just took a middle ground.

Haha, are you new to disc brakes?
Wait until they get wet if you think it's loud now.

No, put i run tubes on the road so 70psi is where I want to be at 170ish. I’ve been running that pressure for a while so just roll with it. You’re running tubeless I’m guessing?

Might be loud if they didnt bed the rotors/pads in

Mostly. I’ve only had them on my mountain bike but they’re not this loud. But I mostly use it for downhill and have on a full face helmet with speakers in it so I never notice. The shokz don’t drown these out lol.

Yeah tubeless. I switched to all tubeless a couple years ago and ran my old bike at 100 and rode around on those bricks just taking the abuse.

My neighbors will love me doing springs and full brake stops up and down the street tonight now
Also I want to say the invisiframe ppf kit I got was really good. Instructions could use some help but the fit was great. I had been making my own ppf for high impact areas but decided to roll the dice in this precut kit and it’s nice.

Ouch.
I run my 32’s (tubeless) at 68 rear and 66 front. Silca calculator says 72/70, but max pressure on the GP5000’s is listed at 73.

you should make sure the calipers and rotors are torqued. also look up how to bed new rotors in and do that. you are supposed to do it first but i would still do it
it should not make that noise.

Anybody do any riding this weekend? 48 miles A group on Saturday (got dropped-but not unexpected since I’m new to A group) and 32 miles on Sunday on my gravel bike (but with road group).
