Lemoine had some health problems but he is doing better now. Ultimately the number of racers began declining and the interest faded. Geaux Race is no more.
The Rouge Roubaix had a rough go after the West Fel Parish government began cracking down on cycling by adopting these ridiculous ordinances. All the major cycling events stopped shortly afterwards: Rouge Roubaix, Feliciana RR, Age Graded Championship, Wheels to Succeed, BRBC events, etc.
There is new leadership in the parish government and the ordinances have been repealed. Our relationship with the parish is improving but I still think frick-them from time to time although the riding up there is the best in the state.

Yeah I remember when he stopped riding. He was getting fit that spring dropped a bunch of weight then the health problems creeped back up on him. Made me pretty sad to be honest. Also didn’t realize Geaux Race disbanded.

How are you enjoying the new city/scenery? Your power numbers on Zwift are legit.
New city is pretty good so far. Still trying to figure out the scene. Austin was much easier to break into it seems like. Power numbers are backup to sea level numbers or beyond. Looking forward to stacking week after week this summer to see where I can get to

Regional TT Champs in a month…. Time to start riding the race wheels a little. I call the front wheel “widow maker” lol. shite is a lil sketchy in the ‘ol cross winds

I am curious as to why the rear wheel is a solid disc but the front wheel isn't. Can someone explain that to me?
I just missed the elusive 20.0 mph club the other day, but I did turn in a blistering 19.9 mph avg on a 15 mile ride. I am very happy with my progress. I had to push it to make 17 mph just a few months ago!

That 85mm front wheel is hard enough to manage in any sort of crosswind. You wouldn't be able to ride a front disc unless it was a 100% calm day. They do run them for indoor track events however.

awesome job man. it's definitely cool when you see progress like that

I always discounted the cross winds comments until one day I rode around the Mandeville lakefront with 65mm’s. Almost busted a couple times. I bet 85’s will make you pucker up with the quickness.

It’s an eventful ride, but so fast…. Just gotta pay attention. I’m around 165ish so i’m not so light that i get blown all over

I got in a pretty gnarly solo wreck today. I am stiff and sore. I am cut up all on my right side. Still a little woozy and out of it too. It’s going to be a long week or two.

that sucks! how did that happen?

How did the TX MS150 go for any of you baws who road it?
I didn't train nearly enough but knocked out both days in 5hrs each, which I can live with for now given my effort.

A territorial blue jay bolted out of an oak tree right at my head and caused me to lose control and eat it. It was pretty gnarly. I’m beat up. Definitely some bruised ribs but I think I escaped fractures.

I had some family obligations and couldn't participate due to logistics. How was the new course from LaGrange to College Station?
Posted on 5/2/22 at 12:51 pm to Cdawg
It was a nice ride. Great scenery, lots of cow shite to smell. Basically come out of LaGrange climbing, then some pretty fast descents and it flattens out. I got unlucky and the wind never flipped like it was supposed to, so I rode that whole section with a head wind. As you approach College Station it goes uphill again, which is kind of a mind frick at ~73 miles on day 2. But it wasn't too bad. The festivities at the end were cool and logistics on a campus built for footballs games and high-volume made things nice and relatively easy.

Fortunately, my ride seems to be okay. My hands are all sorts of scraped up. My helmet is cracked. I’m fortunate it wasn’t worse and didn’t involve a vehicle.

Cool thread that I didn't know existed.
I'm not a roadie, more of a general cyclist. MTB, Multi surface and gravel grinders are where I spend my time.
Had a real slow February and March on the bikes for some reason, just wasn't feeling it.
April I came out the woodwork though and May is starting strong.
Usually 3-4 pre work weekday rides and I'll grab a bigger rip on the weekends.
Will check back in here more often.

I dabbled in road and gravel and multisurface. For whatever reason that type of riding just doesn't hold my interest. Right now I'm 90% MTB with a single speed. Will ride the full suspension with gears when the terrain requires it. I think the reason I like the single speed so much is that it requires focus and attention. No turning off your brain and mindlessly pedaling. I enjoy finding difficult terrain that requires thought, skill, timing, and rider input to clear.
The single speed is high intensity though and really hard on the legs and knees. I bet I average a good 10-15bpm higher heart rate on the single speed over the same terrain as my geared bikes. I started riding single speed mainly during lunch to get short high intensity rides around an hour long. I'm getting strong enough now that I can start doing 2+ hour 20+ mile rides on the single speed with relative ease. Did 24 last Saturday in 2.5 hours which has been my longest single speed ride to date.
