No worries. She is on the mend and getting stronger. Might be able to sneak away in 3 or 4 weeks until then it is zwift and trainerroad

Did 3 sisters route on Zwift today. Felt alright. At altitude I averaged 20 less watts and came in 6 minutes slower compared to my sea level power and time.

Finally able to somewhat get back in the groove after what I thought was COVID (again) and Ida. That said, would you guys consider either of the pictures below cause for concern as far as tire integrity?

Cleaned my bike this am and ran across these upon inspection. The tire pictured (front) was low yesterday am prior to my ride and I was already at the levee when I realized it, so I put a CO2 cart in it and called it good.

I usually air my tires prior to every ride, but had just done it the day prior. Lesson learned. It’s been holding ever since.

I’ve got a remote/long ride planned Fri or Sat and the last thing I need is to blow a tire. Not really wanting to buy a new one if it’s unnecessary though. Conti GP5000’s.

Second pic is blurry, although less concerning than 1st IMO.

is there something still in the tire in that first pic?

i wouldn't be worried about the integrity of that tire with a small puncture right on the fattest part of the tread. should be fine..

that being said, let all of that c02 out and refill it with regular air

Yeah I think it’s a piece of… something… ? Seems to be metal but maybe plastic? Wondering if it would be best to leave it in as a “plug” of sorts or dig it out and risk further damage. It’s really small, not sure if you can tell in pic.

Thanks about the CO2; was curious about that.

definitely pull it out and replace the tube. pull it out from whatever side will cause the least additional damage to the tire casing.

Pull it out and then patch from the other side if the integrity of the tire has been compromised

Literally flicked it out with my finger. Appeared to be a piece of gravel or something. Let all of the CO2/air out, aired it back up and soap tested it and all appears to be good. Will keep an eye on it. Thanks fellas!

I got an $800 hybrid bike from REI since I didn't want to spend too much money on a bike incase I didn't like it or don't ride as much as I would like, especially with me training for a marathon starting in October where I will only be able to ride once a week

So far so good, have ridden about 45 miles on it so far. How long are tires(not the tubes) supposed to last? I got a spare tube and attached a bag to the underside of the seat to store that and a patch kit in but I am wondering about the actual rubber.

Depends on the quality of the tire, the surface you ride, and your weight. I usually get 4K miles out of a GP5000
