Thoughts on oblique exercises?

I know a lot of people do weighted side bends
I've seen some people say that those are not very good for your back
What is your preferred method of working this area? Side planks? Side crunches?

Don’t you have scoliosis? So you won’t deadlift, but this seems okay? Son, I want to slap you right now.
Why do you want to do oblique exercises?

It's actually why I'm asking
The side bends seem like a terrible idea for me personally and looking to see if there is a more suitable alternative

look up the pallof press. Would be easy on your scoliosis

Why ask why? Try Bud Dry.
Pallof press and suitcase farmers walk are my two favorites. Unless you're an athlete who plays a sport that involves flexion or rotation, I think anti-flexion and anti-rotation are more beneficial for the average person.

I'm hoping to get back into tennis if I can find someone to play with. That seems to be a challenge in itself

I never work them but when I tried heavy one armed BB hold (like a single arm Farmers walk) it would work them.

Fella by the name of Tim Swords did a Clean and Jerk clinic at my box a few weekends ago. We went over a few accessory movements he insisted on us doing regularly and side bends was one of them.

Abs do not have to be complicated, it is all about the burn and eating right. You dont really need weights at all really for them
Standard Oblique Crunches (on a decline bench for a quicker burn)
bicylce crunches
Hand to foot crunches
Use the dip rack to do knee left crunches on an angle
Hernias are no joke
