Tried it today. Got up to 475x2 which is my conventional weight. Backing down 50 on my training max to get used to it.
Big takeaway. I didn't require a belt up to 455. Probably could have done 475 without. I usually put it on at 405 conventional.
Did full sumo though not semi.

Sumo just feels better for me. My buddy was watching me deadlift yesterday and said my conventional looked like two obvious motions because I had to clear the knees going both up and down, when I swapped to Sumo he said everything was one smooth motion and I can definitely feel the difference in the lift when doing it like that...I've been trying to focus on conventional but after yesterday I think it may be time to stay in a sumo stance beyond warmups (I like to do both when warming up)

Yeah, same. You really need to train both. Conventional is better for general strength and size.

same. Conventional DLs are very awkward for me; I need some coaching on them. Sumo is very natural for me.
I think it's a problem a lot of tall guys have to deal with. Some people say put your weight on the balls of your feet and don't change your back angle until you clear your knees.. Like literally just extend your legs until you clear your knees and then push your hips.

I do sumo whenever I am allowed to because I have really short arms, and it allows me to start in a better position. The beginning of the lift is where I potentially get into trouble, and I am way better there with sumo.

That is basically what you are supposed to do. Almost every video I've seen on how to do deadlifts shows that.

Agreed. But I think that people with longer legs tend to not do that quite as easily, making sumo feel more natural.
