Spinoff: What’s your 3 or 5 mile time right now?

3 mile: 21 flat or so
5 mile: Just ran 38:45
Absolutely sucked but wanted to hit sub 40 minutes. Final 2 miles is all gravel and mud so I could probably get better on a track.

Do you mean best or average?
Best: 21:30 and 40
Average: 26-27 and 43-4
My current goals are sub 22 5k, sub 50 10k.

I was making real progress on all my times (for my age and less-than-hardcore training habits): 1mile (5:55), 5k, 10k and half marathon.
Then I skied 10 days in a row and my "problem" left knee rebelled (mainly fluid that comes and goes--i went 2 years without running at all due to torn meniscus I haven't repaired).
I have it pretty well rehabbed now though.
I live in very hilly areas and run a lot of different routes and trail runs, so it's hard to get consistent times.
I was at a 23 min 5k w moderate elevation gain (under 300ft), and 50 min 10k pre-skiing.
I just ran 44 min 5 miler last night (260ft gain), and knee is holding up. So I may push it a little.
I'm skiing another 10 days starting Thur so I'm really tempting fate w this 43.5 yo knee!

24:57 is the last time I clocked a 3 mile run (been sub 24, in the past, but dont have any specific timed events). 5 mile is at 42:30 right now.
Did PR for a half marathon today at 1:58 . Not exactly blazing, but its pretty funny how my 5k pace isnt super far off of my half marathon (within 40 or so seconds and I could probably knock a minute or two off that half as I played the beginning very conservatively)

28
50
If I had to guess. Usually run at 9:30 pace. I’m sure I’d slow down after 3 miles though.

I did 2:09 my first half and it pissed me off. After 3 attempts (2 not races) I finally beat 2 hours and it’s one of my favorite accomplishments.
I run one a month for the Strava challenge and I find that the monkey gets on my back a little later every month.

I haven’t done a half since 2010. Can’t remember my time. I was a young blood and running 35+ miles a week back then.
I’d like to eventually work my way to a full marathon but it’s gonna take some time.

I'm planning on doing the Missoula, MT full in July. I've done that half 3 times. I've never done a full of any sort.
My closest was something really (really) dumb: last Missoula half (July 9), I had just started running (in June) for the first time in two years and had just finished 6 months of chemo (on Juneteenth). This is totally idiotic thinking, but the day before the race, I "wanted to make sure I could do it," so I ran 14 miles and it got very hot the last 5 (like 98 degrees).
Took a nap afterward and woke up vomiting clear...something. Probably the last pint of water + bile.
Then I ran the half the next day in just under 2. Felt fine somehow, but that was very dangerous and I'm lucky I didn't f myself up.
Moral of the story (besides I'm not too wise): I think I can do a full with proper training including PTing my a-hole knee. I might do something like the Galloway method.
CSB:I actually met him in Missoula--crashed his 70th bday party at the hotel bar where we always do happy hour. He gave me a shout out for my ancient Peachtree Road Race shirt. Cool dude.

Damn, that’s harsh luck.

Thx. I where a hinged brace + extra compression underneath it and ice with ColPacs on top and beneath knee. I try to avoid hardpack moguls and stick to powder and the trees which sound more dangerous but I'm careful and powder is much easier on the knees than pounding bumps.
The human body is amazing, but man I feel like a little extra engineering could go into the knees and back!

Depends on traffic and if school is in.

Just did 5 miles - 47:50. I had to stop and walk about 1/8 mile due to pain in my achilles. I think I could have cranked out 45 minutes.
I hate being slow.

My 5k PR from last year was 21:36 so probably 21 flat or so on 3 miles even
Ran the Rock n Roll half yesterday and my first 5 miles were right at 38:45. So if just doing 5 probably be around 38 or little faster probably

If I were to go full out for 3 miles, I could hit sub 25. I'm usually more relaxed when I'm just jogging and maintain a 9:30 pace.
