Been taking 9 mg of boron every morning with the rest of my supplements for most of last year. Blood work in late September showed T at 250 and free T at 12. Despite boron, clean eating, regular strength and cardio, I’m think I’m just hypogonadal and need to go on TRT.

I hate to hear that dude. It sucks when you make an effort at anything for that long, but especially a health issue and it doesnt resolve. I know stress and high cortisol can be a major factor. Do you generally feel bad? Not optimal in gym?

Here are my labs from January 2024. I was taking 140 MG of test C/week.

Here are this years labs, I'm currently taking 120 MG/week of test C. I've been taking 10 mg of boron citrate/day for the last 4 or 5 months. I'm also about 15 lbs lighter than I was last year.

Both of the free test results say they're in pg/ml. Did my free test really go up that much? Why are the ranges so different if the units are the same? Seems pretty crazy to go from 26.2 pg/ml to 260.3 pg/ml unless the tests are different.

Would the testosterone increase from boron supplementation be high enough to result in accelerated hair loss/thinning?

that has to do with conversion not levels..pretty much based on genetics. if you didnt have hair thinning in the late teens and early 20s....then shouldnt

Im lucky/unlucky. My mom's dad was bald and I got a receding hairline beginning in HS...but im now in my mid 30s and still have that same hairline and extremely thick hair. I would never take any exogenous T because im afraid something might kickstart it, but thankfully ive been lucky with T levels as well

I think it's just the difference in units, I would bet the results are right in line with each other.

That's what I was thinking but then I noticed both are in pg/ml.

oh lol....thats because of instagram and him not understanding how it works well

he is an old school forum poster and used to write, edit and produce the magazine hardcore back in the 90s, became famous in the early 2000s when the popularity of bodybuilding forums happened when he wrote the famous post.....cycle for pennies

and its funny cause he was always known for his proper writing style on the forums but now on instagram he has said it is so hard for him to do it. He is only 55ish so not like he is that old, he just isnt good with how to check before you submit, how you have character limits etc

he owns truenutrition and started it with doug.

No, I don’t feel bad, and I do fine in the gym. Maybe my T has been low for so long that what I think is normal isn’t normal. No symptoms other than low libido.

Loup, good numbers!

My T has been low for a few years. Was doing T-shots for a while and they seemed to work good.

My Doctor, however, recommended that I not take them anymore. He seemed to think that they could cause prostate issues. So I have been off the T-shots for a while.

I have been taking Resveratrol supplements for a while and it does wonders for my energy levels. At least for me it works(maybe its the placebo effect but if it works, why not?)

Going in for a wellness check this week and going to request that my T-levels get checked.

Sex drive is low and getting the ole flag pole to stand at attention is getting harder to achieve.

Don't want to go the Frank Thomas & Doug Flutie way who are pimping some supplement.

Started taking Boron the last couple of weeks after a reading about it here.
I have been taking this boron capsule that I picked up at my local health food store:

I started off with two 3mg capsules per day to see how would react to it. Bumped it up to three 3mg capsules per day and now I have gone up to four 3mg capsules per day.

Starting to get morning wood again and starting to look at the GF with lusty eyes more often.

Went and had my labs done last week.

Doc, which is my new primary care Doc, wanted a list of all the meds, along with supplements I take.

He wanted a list of all the meds and supplements I was taking. He gave me a strange look and asked what I was taking it for. I told him it was my T-levels. He had a somewhat befuddled look on his face.

Anywho, my T-level came in at 414. I am middle 50s, 5'10", still about 20 lbs. over weight

Getting morning wood again and feeling great.

A lot of is probably because I am eating well, fairly active at work and doing some stretching at home. Also cut out a lot of the junk in my diet.

That fear was based off of terrible research many decades ago and has since been debunked.

Get a second test. Might've been a lab error.

I'm getting retested in about a month. He dropped my Testosterone back a bit and I stopped the Boron. I'll report back.

414 is good for 50s.

As far as prostate thing, that doctor was incorrect.

I am gonna claim NO medical expertise here. I am not a medical professional.

A few years back, I was taking the Pfizer Depo-Testosterone injections.

They made me feel good and I felt like a I was 25 again. I was getting decent boners.

However, something just didn't feel right about them.

I am prone to kidney stones and if I have a large stone passing, I get a UTI and my prostate will swell up and I cannot urinate. I have to get a catheter inserted so I can pee. Not fun baw, not fun.

Thankfully I have not had a urinary retention incident in over2 years.
I went to a new urologist and he questioned me about my diet and liquid intake.

We went over the usual, sodas, excessive salt & sugar intake, Vitamin C supplements...
Then he asked if I drank sweet tea. The pin dropped and there it was. He said sweet tea is a big cause of kidney stones.

Anywho, sorry to regress.

T-shots may be safe and effective but I am doing feeling great with boron, eating good and cutting out a lot of the junk food.

I will throw this out concerning T-Shots:

quote:

What are the risks of testosterone therapy for normal aging?

Testosterone therapy has various risks, including:

•Worsening sleep apnea — a potentially serious sleep disorder in which breathing repeatedly stops and starts.
•Causing acne or other skin reactions.
•Stimulating noncancerous growth of the prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia) and growth of existing prostate cancer.

•Enlarging breasts.
•Limiting sperm production or causing testicles to shrink.
•Stimulating too much red blood cell production, which contributes to the increased risk of forming a blood clot. A clot could break loose, travel through your bloodstream and lodge in your lungs, blocking blood flow (pulmonary embolism).

Approach testosterone therapy with caution if you are at high risk for prostate cancer; have severe urinary symptoms from prostate enlargement; or have diagnosed heart disease, a previous heart attack, or multiple risk factors for heart problems.

I also wanted to see if anyone had taken DHEA and if the results were good

I'm 72, in the gym five days a week and have been taking compounded [/u]DHEA for over ten years (20mg - a little expensive). Also have been on test injections for about 25 years. Test numbers are 900 to 1100, free t is normal and psa is around 3.0. Wouldn't change a thing, life is good.
