Last Wednesday I twisted my torso to the right to sneeze into my elbow. When I sneezed I felt something tear or pop under my left ribcage. Five days later and the pain is still severe. I guess I pulled a muscle or tore some cartilage. Has anyone else experienced this? How long is the healing process?

I'll be 60 in two weeks.

My brother pulled a muscle in his chest after vomiting. Next day, he thought he was having a heart attack because of the tightness and pain in his chest.
Long story short. No heart attack. Pain in chest persisted until found a knot in his chest muscles and massaged it out. He said it hurt like heck but the chest pain went away. He complained about it for a couple months before working it out.

While pregnant, my wife, who is known to have extremely violent sneezes, cracked a rib from sneezing. She was 28 at the time.

I’m 60. Pulled a muscle in my sternum area. Felt like a heart attack. Doc said it’s common. Welcome to the 60’s. Pay attention to these things and get them checked out. Better safe than sorry.

Yep at that age could be a few things may want to go get looked at.

I think I'm going to give it a few more days, rub some more dirt on it. If the pain hasn't subsided any I'll go to a doc.

I cracked a rib/ribs with what I thought was a regular sneeze a couple of years ago. The next few weeks were absolute hell, but I lived. No disrespect - man up, deal with it and you'll be fine after a few weeks.
